Green Light Candidates

Fiona Hawkins (Greens)

I’ve been an Aspley local for 11 years. I was originally an accountant, and then worked for many years as a government-funded financial counsellor in community organisations. I understand the terrible impact financial stress has on people’s lives.  

Right now, house prices, rent and cost of living are rising to ridiculous levels. People feel trapped in a system where prices just never stop going up.

But there is a way out of this. 

Unlike other parties, the Greens don’t accept corporate donations so we will take on the big corporations that are ripping off Queenslanders. We’ll make them pay their fair share and use that money to build 100,000 public homes, fully fund schools, free childcare, hospitals and essential services. We’ll also freeze rents and cap increases.

We’ll make groceries cheaper by breaking up the duopoly power of Coles and Woolies and stopping corporate price gouging for essentials. We’ll cut power bills with 100% publicly owned renewable energy.

We are the only party standing up for everyday Queenslanders. Our plans and policies will provide everything we need to live a good life, so we can all relax and enjoy the people and things that matter most to us.
