Noosa/ 2024 Queensland state election

Here is a mock up of a Traffic Light Voting Guide. The real time guides for each electorate will be available after the ballot draw which will happen either on Thursday October 10th or Friday October 11th. We will prepare the guides over the weekend ready for pre-polling on Monday October 14th. Once we upload them to the website, you will be able to download, print, and fill them in at home and then take them to the polling booth with you to easily transfer your choices onto the ballot paper.  Alternatively, take your phone with you when you head off to vote, and you can then access our advice on the screen.

In the meantime, you can scroll down this page to check out the Green Light Candidate profiles in your electorate.

The team at Vote Climate One encourages all candidates to support the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord to underpin any decisions in the Queensland Legislative Assembly relating to action on the climate emergency.

If you have any information which may inform our candidate assessments please use our contact form at the bottom of this page or phone Rob on 0427 580803

Rhonda Prescott

I have lived and worked in the Noosa area for 28 years. As an accountant, I have assisted many local businesses in managing their financial affairs.

I operate a business as a Registered Business Activity Statement (BAS) Agent/Bookkeeper and volunteer for several community organisations including a local newsletter, bush care and First Nations allyship. I recognise Australia’s First Peoples as the original environmentalists. I joined the Greens in 2001 because we are the only political party that takes the protection of our natural environment seriously.

The Greens will help create real jobs for all Queenslanders whereas the other parties continue to perpetuate the myth that coal industry jobs provide secure long-term employment. We must provide a just transition into new renewable industries for these workers with long-term, stable jobs.

Labor and the LNP aren’t taking meaningful action to reduce emissions and mitigate the effects of dangerous man-made climate change.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

With only two MPs in the Queensland Parliament, the Greens have already demonstrated a capacity to substantially influence State politics, as evidenced by our campaign to scrap plans to waste billions of dollars of public money rebuilding the Gabba Stadium, which would have destroyed a local school and park. Imagine when we elect more MPs this October!

At a local level, our branch took early action opposing the State government’s plans for commercial tourist operators to build high-end accommodation within National Parks. We opposed the initial approval and the expansion of the Kin Kin Quarry and associated truck movements on country roads and other inappropriate local development proposals.

The Greens will make big corporations pay their fair share and use that money to build public housing, fully fund schools, free childcare, hospitals and essential services. We’ll make groceries cheaper by breaking up the duopoly power of Coles and Woolies and stop corporate price gouging for essentials.

We deserve a government that prioritises the needs of the people over political donors. The Greens don’t take corporate donations like Labor and the LNP do, so we’ll work for you – not vested interests.

When we work together, we can achieve incredible things. Join my campaign and together we can work towards a better future for all of us.
