Pamela Mariko

Pamela is an Outstanding Green Light Candidate

Pamela has a diverse background in business: financial services, project marketing, freelance travel and property writing for national media and industry journals, part-time yoga teacher, and author.

Pamela is not new to the political arena as she has run as a confident candidate in several elections including local government elections in 2020, 2024 and state government elections in 2020 and again in the upcoming general election in October this year.

She has represented AJP Qld as an ordinary committee member and delegate and used her role as Media Liaison to elevate the Party, the Senate and House of Representative candidates through extensive media coverage.

If elected, Pamela would work to ensure the ban on live export could never be overturned by another government. Pamela would advocate for government  incentives to encourage and financially support animal agricultural farmers in transitioning to more lucrative and sustainable farming practices. She would seek to eventually phase out intensive animal farming completely.

“It is time to limit urban sprawl to protect nature, and I would call for an immediate ban on intensive breeding facilities such as puppy mills and kitten farms.”

Her agenda includes greener modes of transport, greener industry – and training, so we, as a country, MAKE things.

Alison McMaster (LCQ)

Alison is an Outstanding Green Light Candidate

ALLISON McMASTER, a typical mum, had her world turned upside down by a devastating diagnosis of terminal cancer, given less than two years to live. The doctors’ prognosis was so grim that her life insurance was paid out and she, her husband and young son started taking their final bucket-list holidays.

It was all Allison needed to start searching for answers and hopefully a cure to this deadly disease. That was in 2013. Now, she is not only free of cancer, but she is in remission. However, it took many operations and much treatment.

Cannabis was her friend, her saviour and the lifeline for which she searched. Allison sings the praises of this wonderful plant which she knows can help so many, and would like to see it freely available to all those who need it.

Allison believes the stigma should be removed, as should the criminal history some find themselves dealing with. She is so passionate about the subject, she wrote a book; ‘Terminal to Remission with Cannabis Oil: An Australian Success Story’.

Peta Higgs (Greens)

I am a practicing Urogynaecologist (a gynecologist who works with people who have pelvic floor dysfunction) on Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi Country (Sunshine Coast) and enjoy my work in Women’s Health and helping my patients achieve the best outcomes. I grew up in Meanjin/Brisbane and trained as a doctor in Queensland, Victoria and overseas.

Working within the public health sector for over 30 years, I have seen the challenges facing people and how they struggle with the cost of living, housing, price of food and power bills and lack of healthcare

I have also become increasingly aware of the effects of climate change on health and the urgent need for action to protect our planet, biodiversity and human health. The science clearly shows that fossil fuels are a health hazard and the move to renewable energy is possible and economical.

I am tired of seeing big corporations pay next to no tax and make massive donations to the old parties. They should be governing for us – not the highest bidder

The Greens have a plan to tackle and solve these issues. We will take on the big corporations that are ripping off Queenslanders. We’ll make them pay their fair share and use that money to build 100,000 public homes, fully fund schools, free childcare, hospitals and essential services. We’ll also freeze rents and cap increases.

The Greens will make groceries cheaper by breaking up the duopoly power of Coles and Woolies and stopping corporate price gouging for essentials. We’ll cut power bills with 100% publicly owned renewable energy, and take back control of our economy by bringing key infrastructure and services into public ownership.

The Greens don’t take corporate donations like Labor and the LNP do, so I’ll work for you, not vested interests. I will listen to you, hear your concerns and help you get them addressed in our community and in Parliament.
