Owen Parris (Greens)

I’m a university student and a campaigner in the West. I am passionate about putting power back into the hands of our local community so we can take action on issues that affect us.

Labor is taking the West for granted. They’re out of touch with what our community needs and cares about. We’re ready for better.

As your Greens candidate for Lalor, I know how much we are struggling. Rents and mortgages are soaring, grocery prices are out of control and the major parties are doing nothing about it.

Both the major parties take millions of dollars in donations from big corporations and put their corporate mates before you. The Greens don’t and we’re committed to fighting for you.

We want to make big corporations pay their fair share and fund things we all need, like dental and mental health into Medicare, government-built homes to rent and buy, cheaper mortgages, 50 cent public transport fares, a rent freeze and a cap on grocery prices.

In a wealthy country like ours, everyone should be able to afford the basics and governments should actually solve the problems we face.

The electorate of Lalor knows they deserve more, and I am ready to demand it. If you want change, you have to vote for it.
