Avery Howard (Greens)

I’m running because I believe that Parliament can and should do more for us. Everyone deserves to have a home, food, and world class health and education – and I’ve seen those goals get harder than ever over the last few years.

While people are doing it tough, 1 in 3 big corporations pay no tax. And those who are the most vulnerable have been shafted, JobSeeker and other income support payments remain well under the poverty line.

Over the last few years, I’ve worked as an anti-poverty activist, which has opened my eyes to disadvantage in Australia and the inaction that the major parties are taking to those who are the worst off in this country.

Things can change, but you need to vote for it.

The Greens have a plan to make big corporations and billionaires pay their fair share to fund the things we all need like tackling the cost of living, helping renters and stressed mortgage holders and taking strong action on the climate crisis.

I want your vote so that together we can create a government that represents all its constituents, not just the privileged and giant corporations.

I’ve stood outside Parliament House to fight for change, and I will stand inside and fight even harder. I want to show young people that together, we have the power to make change happen.
