Minority Government
Why do we need a solidly-progressive cross bench, firstly holding the balance of power in our Federal Parliament, and secondly forming minority government with a major party?
When either of the major parties has a majority in the Lower House of the Federal Parliament they can vitually ignore the representitives who have been elected by the one third of Australians who distrust Labor and the Coalition and have voted for minor parties, micro-parties and independents. The major parties are on the nose with Australian voters. Their “greedy “patrons” in fossil fuel and similar special interests “get” (or “are given”) what they want for themselves and to hell with our future.
There is enormous talent, and level-headedness in parliament’s crossbench. We need the influence of these people in government decision-making. Without holding the balance of power these capable politicans are largely ineffective in generating or shaping government legislation. Minority government which includes these good folk has the potential to create a parliament of national unity. The demise of the Coalition parties as an effective opposition has made this outcome a tenable solution to Australia’s need to forge a new collaborative unity which is informed by our diverse voices.
How can we make these capable crossbenchers more effective?
The answer is to use Traffic Light Voting and strategic preferencing to force the major parties into Minority Government.
THE ELECTION OF A MINORITY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CREATE A PARLIAMENT OF NATIONAL UNITY.
Vote Traffic Light and create a fair future for us all.
