Green Light Candidates

Hi, I’m Stef Rozitis
I’m running to push for bolder action in protecting our oceans and air as we build a sustainable economy for all. Like many of you, I want a safer future for our children.
I live in leafy Elder. Our vibrant neighbourhood is rich in caring people, and community building resources such as street libraries, the PASMAG network, green and community spaces, and wonderful small businesses.
We’re a neighbourhood that cares deeply about access to community-enhancing schools, working with council to provide cycling and walking infrastructure (active transport), and staying well connected with public transport. We value diversity and celebration.
I have worked as a teacher, teacher-educator, policy writer, resource writer, and researcher. I am keen to apply the broad skills and knowledge I have gained from my work and networks, in the service of democracy.
In Elder we expect our MPs to be present for us and listen, but then also be free to act on our behalf. We can do better than the duopoly of the major parties who have mechanisms for quashing local voices. It’s time for bolder, more effective action on climate change and a global vision for a sustainable future. We need a vision for a fair South Australia where our children will enjoy secure, fairly remunerated jobs, affordable housing, and adequate health care.
I am enthusiastic to keep listening, to understand what the priorities are for people in Elder, and to advocate strongly for the changes we so urgently need.
This moment demands strong climate action.
If you’re worried about the climate crisis, you’re not alone.
Millions of us are worried about rising power bills, environmental destruction and protecting our families from extreme weather.
Labor has approved over 25 more coal and gas projects while in office, while the Liberals’ commitment to fossil fuels remains stronger than ever.
Both take millions in donations from coal and gas corporations to fund their election campaigns. They’re working for their donors, not for people, our planet or the future.
With the Greens in the balance of power in the Senate, this parliament has a real opportunity to deliver strong climate action.
Our plan for ambitious climate action
Our wins on climate and clean energy have shown what’s possible. Now it’s time to push further and lead the world in the move away from coal and gas.
- Stop new coal and gas.
- Expand publicly-owned renewable energy.
- End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations.
- End native forest logging.
- Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable, clean energy.
- Subsidise solar & batteries for homes & businesses.
- End fossil fuel subsidies for all industries except agriculture.
- Save koalas and our wildlife from extinction.
- Create thousands of jobs during the transition.
- Provide grants and low-interest loans to help households and small businesses electrify, install solar batteries, and cut emissions and energy bills.
