Outstanding Green Light Candidates

Bronwyn Lewis has been assessed as an Outstanding Green light Candidate
So, here is her answer to our assessment questions:
1. If I am elected to the South Australian Parliament, I will support real action on issues relating to the ecological and climate emergency.
2. I support the application of the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord to inform, when relevant, my position and advocacy on legislation and policy and will continue to promote the ICLEI vision of sustainability policy and drive local action for zero emission, nature-based, equitable, resilient and circular development. I have been acutely involved in the Climate / Environment arena for over 40 years. Demonstrating against wood chipping and whaling in WA in the 1970’s through to winning a tender from the Australian Greenhouse Office in 2006 to deliver education to 540 Councils around Australia to reach their ICLEI milestones.
ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability
On Election to Alexandrina Council in late 2018 one of my first Motions was the introduction of a Climate Emergency Committee and an Environment committee and both of these did substantive planning and policy work in my term. After standing against the Mayor in the 2022 Election and missing out by 61 votes the committees were merged and have not been as effective – the Council’s ICLEI membership too was dropped.
My independent opponent in the State Election is a current member of that council and has done nothing that I know off to progress any action in the space. My most significant achievement was the introduction of a heat mapping exercise showing how significant trees have cooled the land in our area. This has also delivered a level of heritage protection that was lost with the introduction of the DPI Act.
Another piece of work undertaken as a result of the Climate Emergency committee was a Coastal Adaption report which is now being implementation in particular in the Port Elliot region of the Fleurieu where erosion and tidal storms are causing both the rise of the sea level and significant issues around dune stability. One of the simplest measures is the immediate restoration of the breakwater.

Lou Nicholson has been assessed as an Outstanding Green light Candidate

Green Light Candidates

Hi, I’m Bart Astill-Pearce
I’m proud to be your Greens candidate for Finniss.
This moment demands strong climate action.
If you’re worried about the climate crisis, you’re not alone.
Millions of us are worried about rising power bills, environmental destruction and protecting our families from extreme weather.
Labor has approved over 25 more coal and gas projects while in office, while the Liberals’ commitment to fossil fuels remains stronger than ever.
Both take millions in donations from coal and gas corporations to fund their election campaigns. They’re working for their donors, not for people, our planet or the future.
With the Greens in the balance of power in the Senate, this parliament has a real opportunity to deliver strong climate action.
Our plan for ambitious climate action
Our wins on climate and clean energy have shown what’s possible. Now it’s time to push further and lead the world in the move away from coal and gas.
- Stop new coal and gas.
- Expand publicly-owned renewable energy.
- End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations.
- End native forest logging.
- Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable, clean energy.
- Subsidise solar & batteries for homes & businesses.
- End fossil fuel subsidies for all industries except agriculture.
- Save koalas and our wildlife from extinction.
- Create thousands of jobs during the transition.
- Provide grants and low-interest loans to help households and small businesses electrify, install solar batteries, and cut emissions and energy bills.
