Broadwater/2024 Queensland state election

Here is a mock up of a Traffic Light Voting Guide. The real time guides for each electorate will be available after the ballot draw which will happen either on Thursday October 10th or Friday October 11th. We will prepare the guides over the weekend ready for pre-polling on Monday October 14th. Once we upload them to the website, you will be able to download, print, and fill them in at home and then take them to the polling booth with you to easily transfer your choices onto the ballot paper.  Alternatively, take your phone with you when you head off to vote, and you can then access our advice on the screen.

In the meantime, you can scroll down this page to check out the Green Light Candidate profiles in your electorate.

The team at Vote Climate One encourages all candidates to support the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord to underpin any decisions in the Queensland Legislative Assembly relating to action on the climate emergency.

Simon Margan (Greens)

My family has been part of the Runaway Bay community on the Gold Coast since 2001.  I am a solicitor who has done extensive human rights litigation and advocacy. I have worked as a human rights advocate and am passionate about: lifelong accessible education; adequate aged care; and equality and justice for all.

It shouldn’t matter your background – race, gender, religion or sexuality – as everyone should be treated equally and have equal opportunities to live a good life.

Right now, so many people are struggling. House prices are through the roof, rent is out of control, and the cost of living is constantly rising.

But this October, we have a huge opportunity for positive change.

If we want things to change, we have to do things differently. We need big corporations and billionaires to pay their fair share in tax so we can use that money to provide all the things that Queenslanders need to live a good life: affordable housing; free childcare; and genuinely free public education and healthcare.

Our communities deserve affordable and smart public transport options. I strongly believe in the need for better integration between heavy rail, light rail, and other public transport services. That’s why the Greens plan to expand the public transport system and make it free.

We’ll make groceries cheaper by breaking up the duopoly power of Coles and Woolies and stopping corporate ‘price gouging’ for essentials. We’ll cut power bills with 100% publicly owned renewable energy.

We are the only party standing up for everyday Queenslanders

This time, vote Greens.

Unfortunately the Broadwater electorate has no Green Light Candidates standing as yet.

We hope the situation will change as the campaign unfolds. If nothing eventuates the Australian Labor Party candidate will end up the only Orange Light Candidate. When you vote for tAspleyhe best outcome for climate action preference the Orange Light Candidate first, followed by Red Light Candidates last. We only publish Traffic Light Voting Guides if there are Green Light Candidates running for the seat.
