Bass/ 2025 Tasmanian state election

Below is the Traffic light Voting Guide the team at Vote Climate One published to elect seven members for the Division of Bass in the 2024 Tasmanian election. Our guides for the current election will be published after the ballot draw is declared on June 27th.

The team at Vote Climate One encourages all candidates to support the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord to underpin any decisions in the Tasmanian parliament relating to action on the climate emergency.

Green Light Candidates

Candidates who have committed to supporting the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord are on the top of our list as exceptional Green Light Candidates.

Tim Walker (Independent)

 I enjoyed reading about the Climate Rescue Accord on the website. I fully support the 3Rs and the Accord, and if I am successful in becoming a Tasmanian State parliamentarian, will look forward to advancing and supporting the actions outlined through the decisions I make.

Jack Davenport (Independent)

I support the use of the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord to help inform decisions, supported by the best available evidence, I will potentially make in the Tasmanian parliament in relation to action on the climate emergency.

Ivan Davies (Animal Justice Party)

The Animal Justice Party has fully endorsed the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord.

George Razay (Independent)

George has endorsed the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord. At a local level he is particually concerned about the effect of pollution on public health.

The following seven Green Light candidates are from the Tasmanian Greens. Their party has a strong poIicy for climate action

Tasmanian Greens

Ball is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts in politics and policy at the University of Tasmania. She was involved in School Strike 4 Climate, and Amnesty International activities at Launceston College.

FITTLER, Jack

Tasmanian Greens

Fittler lives in South Launceston and works for Greens Senator Peter Whish-Wilson.

HALL, Tom

Tasmanian Greens

Hall grew up in regional South Australia, moved to Adelaide for university, and then moved to Launceston in 2003 for his first position as a doctor. He has lived in Launceston since then, apart from a five year absence while undergoing Anaesthetic specialist training. He has worked as a specialist anaesthetist at Launceston General Hospital and in the private system since late 2012. He was a Green candidate for Bass at the 2018, 2021 and 2024 state elections and the federal seat in 2019.

LAYTON-BENNETT, Anne

Tasmanian Greens

Layton-Bennett is a freelance writer who moved to Tasmania with her partner in 1988. They worked in the cut flower industry for over 20 years as co-owners of a retail florist business, and a wholesale flower farm supplying the trade. She is a qualified Library Technician and has worked in both public and school libraries, more recently combining this with work as a freelance journalist. She was active in the campaign against the proposed Gunns Tamar Valley pulp mill, and from 2014-20. Layton-Bennett has previously been a Green candidate for Bass at state elections in 2014, 2021 and 2024.

MARCH, Eric

Tasmanian Greens

March is a dentist from Trevallyn. He graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours in 2023 and currently works for the health department in Launceston. While studying he worked as a violin teacher.

McLENNAN, Charlene

Tasmanian Greens

McLennan is a lawyer from Trevallyn who specialises in legal aid and domestic and family violence. She was the Greens candidate for Bass in the 2025 federal election.

ROSOL, Cecily

Tasmanian Greens

Rosol is a registered Nurse and counsellor who has worked in NSW, the UK and Launceston. She has also worked as a school chaplain and has been a foster carer. She was one of the lower placed Greens candidates for Bass at the 2021 state election and also contested Bass at the 2022 Federal election. She was elected to state parliament in 2024 after The Greens polled nearly a quota in Bass.
