Corio/Federal Election 2025
GREEN LIGHT CANDIDATES
You can learn about how to effectively use Traffic Light Voting Guides for the upcoming Federal election by following this link to our video and familiarising yourself with its instructions:
Here’s how you can make climate a compelling issue locally.
Hand out Traffic Light A5 How to Vote cards at polling booths. Phone or text 0427 580 803 to arrange for print ready artwork tailored for your electorate. You can then print the How to Vote card using your home printer or for larger numbers use the services of a commercial printer.
This is particularly effective to help add extra reach to Green Light independent campaigns and draw in swinging voters. Vote Climate One’s assessment of candidates has the elevated status of being fiercely independent.

Green Light Candidates
Sarah Hathaway (Socialist Alliance)

Sarah Hathway is the Socialist Alliance candidate for the Seat of Corio in Geelong.
Sarah is a 34-year-old mum who lives in Corio and works in community mental health services as a social worker. She is a long-term socialist activist and was previously a Councillor for the City of Greater Geelong.
While on Council Sarah advocated strongly for Palestine and against Council support for local arms manufacturing, won the right to have a council property retained for social housing rather than private sale and supported community campaigns against the waste incinerator at Lara and the gas import terminal in Corio Bay.
She said, “Both major parties are committing $368 billion to AUKUS and redundant nuclear-powered submarines as frontline services are under resourced and inadequate. We need politicians who will fight for public services and relief from cost-of-living pressures, not weapons manufacturing.” Sarah will campaign for community need not war and greed.
Emilie Flynn (Greens)

I’m a dedicated advocate for climate action, affordable housing, and a sustainable future. With experience in education, community and climate work, I bring a smart, honest voice to drive change and tackle our biggest challenges head-on.
As one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions, the Corio electorate is at a crossroads. I believe we must choose a path that prioritises sustainable development, equitable housing, and better transport options, ensuring all residents – especially the most vulnerable – can thrive. I’m committed to stopping harmful projects like the Lara incinerator and new gas infrastructure while pushing for climate-focused policies that protect our environment and community.
I’m a former teacher, volunteer with local food banks and Community Centres and champion of social causes. I bring authenticity, compassion, and a vision for a sustainable future to my work, ready to deliver the change Geelong urgently needs. Vote 1 Greens.
CHANGES TO TRAFFIC LIGHT ASSESSMENT GUIDE WARNING
The team at Vote Climate One may in some cases change our Traffic Light voting advice right up to the day before election day. Here are some examples of the reasons for late changes.
- Sometimes it is very difficult to access ranking information from parties or candidates who are difficult to contact or have little internet profile. We apply the precautionary principle with a Red Light ranking until further information and commitment to climate rescue comes to hand.
- Aside from climate policy, dodgy preference deals which will have a negative effect on the election of Green Light candidates can demote a Green Light candidate or party to Orange. Conversely a Red Light candidate or party can be promoted to orange if it can be seen that a preference deal assists the election of Green Light candidates.
Please contact us if you have local information which could effect our rankings. Phone Rob 0n 0427 580 803
