Justine Davis

Justine has qualified as an outstanding Green Light candidate.

  1. If you are elected to the next Northern Territory Parliament will your vote focus on support for real action on issues relating to the ecological and climate emergency.

Yes

  1. Are you prepared to use the application of the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord to inform, when relevant, your position and advocacy on legislation and policy.

I support the use of the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord to underpin decisions I will potentially make in the Northern Territory parliament in relation to action on the climate emergency

  • Fracking: Halt fracking until the long-term health of our communities and water systems are assured, and the Pepper Inquiry recommendations are implemented in full. Ensure the gas industry is properly regulated, risks are minimised, negative impacts are monitored and addressed, and projects are required to undertake full impact assessments.
  • Responsible industry: Make sure companies are accountable for environmental damage and Territorians aren’t left paying the clean-up bills.
  • Precautionary approach: Ensure environmental approvals and land clearing decisions are based on the best science available, taking a precautionary approach where information is not available.
  • Water systems: Improve how we manage water resources to keep our rivers flowing, protect environmental values, and ensure there will be safe drinking water supplies and water for economic activities long into the future.
  • Climate change: Reduce emissions to meet net zero goals, transition to 75% renewable energy by 2035, and build community resilience against extreme weather.

Billie Barton

I’m Billie Barton, your Greens candidate for Johnston.

I’m an artist, designer and engineer. I run my own arts business, as well as working for our amazing cultural festivals and in television production. Before moving to Darwin, I worked in engineering and product design and as a technician in a university.

Like most Territorians, I rent my home and I know that NT rental laws need to be so much better. Only the Greens have a plan to make renting better for all of us, and to provide more affordable and public housing.

I’m proud to run for a party that cares about everyone who lives here, not just the big corporations that can afford to donate to the major parties.

I was attracted to move to Darwin by our amazing footy culture. Equality and inclusion on the field really matters to me – and so does keeping our climate liveable so we can all keep playing.

The Greens are the only party with a plan to tackle climate change, ban fracking and move to cheaper cleaner renewable energy.

We can change politics in the Territory! Get in touch or sign up to volunteer.
