Photo withheld at the candidate’s request due to the ongoing stigma surrounding cannabis law reform. Ending this stigma is part of why we are standing candidates.
Liam Morgan the Legalise Cannabis candidate for Light is standing to give South Australians a clear choice on sensible cannabis law reform and fair treatment for medicinal cannabis patients.
He believes the current laws are outdated and are harming responsible adults who are following their doctor’s instructions. In particular, he supports changes to South Australia’s drug driving laws so that patients are not penalised simply for the presence of cannabis in saliva when they are not impaired.
Liam also supports South Australia’s proposed Cannabis Amnesty. The Amnesty would immediately end penalties for adults who use, possess or grow small amounts of cannabis for personal or medicinal use. This would stop South Australians being fined or criminalised for low level offences and allow patients who cannot afford prescription medicinal cannabis to grow their own supply.
Under the policy, police would no longer issue fines or charges for minor possession offences unless commercial activity or serious crime is involved. Existing low level cases would be discontinued and enforcement would shift away from punishment toward a more practical and health focused approach.
Liam believes these changes reflect community expectations and provide a sensible pathway forward while broader cannabis law reform continues to be debated.
He also supports the development of a strong hemp industry in South Australia that can create jobs, strengthen regional economies and open new opportunities in sustainable manufacturing and agriculture.

Green Light Candidates

Hi, I’m James Scalzi
I’m excited to be your Greens candidate for Light. I’m running because we need change. Not sometime in the future, but now. Politics needs to start delivering for our communities, before it’s too late.
I am committed to delivering real outcomes for our communities. Real action on housing, education, and the environment. We are seeing multiple crisis affecting our worlds at the moment. From the housing crisis, to the algal bloom, business as usual just isn’t cutting it, and we need radical change. I will fight to end negative gearing, truly reforming the housing system so young people like me can afford a home one day. I will push the government to cut its ties with dirty gas companies, so that we can have a liveable climate and be able to swim in the ocean. I will push for real environmental reform to protect native ecosystems permanently, so that our beloved natural areas can be enjoyed for generations to come.
Australian politics needs change. We need people in politics who actually care about us, not just executives and wealthy people. I will fight for a safe and fair world if elected.
This moment demands strong climate action.
If you’re worried about the climate crisis, you’re not alone.
Millions of us are worried about rising power bills, environmental destruction and protecting our families from extreme weather.
Labor has approved over 25 more coal and gas projects while in office, while the Liberals’ commitment to fossil fuels remains stronger than ever.
Both take millions in donations from coal and gas corporations to fund their election campaigns. They’re working for their donors, not for people, our planet or the future.
With the Greens in the balance of power in the Senate, this parliament has a real opportunity to deliver strong climate action.
Our plan for ambitious climate action
Our wins on climate and clean energy have shown what’s possible. Now it’s time to push further and lead the world in the move away from coal and gas.
- Stop new coal and gas.
- Expand publicly-owned renewable energy.
- End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations.
- End native forest logging.
- Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable, clean energy.
- Subsidise solar & batteries for homes & businesses.
- End fossil fuel subsidies for all industries except agriculture.
- Save koalas and our wildlife from extinction.
- Create thousands of jobs during the transition.
- Provide grants and low-interest loans to help households and small businesses electrify, install solar batteries, and cut emissions and energy bills.
