Outstanding Green Light Candidates

Ryan Harrison, standing as an independent, has been assessed as an Outstanding Green Light Candidate
- If I am elected to the next South Australian House of Assembly, I will support real action on issues relating to the ecological and climate emergency.
This includes supporting practical solutions such as improving energy storage capacity in the grid, including batteries and other technologies, to address the gap between abundant daytime solar energy and the evening demand peak after 6pm.
As part of my four-point plan I am also advocating for a tree canopy incentive program for the City of Unley. While this is a local initiative, it requires state government approval to implement. The proposal would encourage new developments to maintain at least 15% tree canopy, with a 10% council rate discount for developments that meet this target. Increasing urban tree canopy helps reduce urban heat, improve biodiversity, and support climate resilience. If successful, this approach could potentially be expanded to other council areas across South Australia.
- I support the application of the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord to inform, when relevant, my position and advocacy on legislation and policy.

Josip Ivka representing Legalise Cannabis is an Outstanding Green Light Candidate
Josip Ivka is an Adelaide local who has a strong commitment to justice and has long been a staunch advocate for the animals, the climate, and our community.
He sincerely wants to make a positive difference in this world, striving to aid the most vulnerable. He brings a well-paired blend of science and empathy-focused activism to everything he does.
Unravelling drivers of the climate catastrophe, Josip came to the same realisation as many Australians: animal agriculture causes more destruction and suffering than any other industry on the planet, yet its impact is meticulously hidden from the public eye. He understands that ending all forms of animal exploitation is paramount to the survival of life on this planet.
Josip has a background in electrical engineering, specialised in renewable energy, which he studied abroad in Germany. In his work, he is intimately involved with customer energy resources – solar, batteries, electric vehicles and others, helping South Australians enable the critical transition to clean energy. He is well-liked and trusted by his peers, a passionate union advocate, and loves to mentor budding engineers to achieve the best they can for the world, their local community, and themselves.
Josip loves going hiking and spending time in nature, always searching for local wildlife to snap pictures of. As someone who will always go out of his way to help an animal in need, he supports various TNR (trap, neuter, release) and adopt-don’t-shop programs for cats and draws energy from his adopted fluffy grey cat Lulu and loving wife.
Josip is also very passionate about languages and culture, having mastered German while living abroad to complete his studies, and is currently in his 5th year of learning Japanese. He has also been a volunteer for almost 6 years for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee at his workplace, striving for a welcoming workplace where everyone can shine as their genuine self.
Josip will campaign in support of an official declaration of the climate emergency, and important local issues such as tackling the algal bloom, in hopes of a future for all South Australian animals and people.
Green Light Candidates

Hi, I’m Dylan Kiernan
I’m your GREENS state election candidate for Unley in Adelaide’s south.
I’m running because real change happens when we work together for everyone’s benefit – creating stronger, more connected communities.
I live in Unley with my partner, Millie, and our cat, Ivy. As renters who love the local lifestyle, we’ve experienced firsthand what makes this area special.
Through volunteering in community groups, I’ve seen how finding solutions to local problems creates connection and empowerment. Unley can thrive through community-led initiatives including green spaces, public transport, as well as walking and cycling improvements that connect us with our neighbours and local businesses.
As an organiser for a union representing public health workers, I fight for fair wages and working conditions. My approach is grounded in building relationships across diverse communities and ensuring that everyday people get a say in how change impacts them.
Unley deserves a representative who has a history of contributing to the community and fighting for everyday people. We face serious challenges and they demand serious commitment. I’m ready to fight for the bold and lasting change we need.
This moment demands strong climate action.
If you’re worried about the climate crisis, you’re not alone.
Millions of us are worried about rising power bills, environmental destruction and protecting our families from extreme weather.
Labor has approved over 25 more coal and gas projects while in office, while the Liberals’ commitment to fossil fuels remains stronger than ever.
Both take millions in donations from coal and gas corporations to fund their election campaigns. They’re working for their donors, not for people, our planet or the future.
With the Greens in the balance of power in the Senate, this parliament has a real opportunity to deliver strong climate action.
Our plan for ambitious climate action
Our wins on climate and clean energy have shown what’s possible. Now it’s time to push further and lead the world in the move away from coal and gas.
- Stop new coal and gas.
- Expand publicly-owned renewable energy.
- End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations.
- End native forest logging.
- Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable, clean energy.
- Subsidise solar & batteries for homes & businesses.
- End fossil fuel subsidies for all industries except agriculture.
- Save koalas and our wildlife from extinction.
- Create thousands of jobs during the transition.
- Provide grants and low-interest loans to help households and small businesses electrify, install solar batteries, and cut emissions and energy bills.
