Lili Parsons from the Animal Justice Party

Hi, I’m Adelaide Xerri

I’m excited to be your Greens candidate for Colton. I’m running because our community deserves real action on climate change, affordable housing, and better public transport. Together, we can protect our coast, build walkable neighbourhoods, and create a future that works for everyone.

I’ve lived in Lockleys for three years now, and you’ll often find me riding my bike down the river to grab brunch at Joe’s Kiosk or doing my daily lunch walks trying to spot turtles. I grew up in Eden Hills, I’m Adelaide born and bred, and this is home. (Yes, Adelaide for Adelaide! though technically I’m your Colton candidate).

The algal bloom choking our coast is an embarrassment and a wake-up call. While the major parties avoid accountability, the truth is clear. This is a direct symptom of the climate crisis we’re fuelling through fossil fuels. Our community deserves proper research and real action to prevent this happening again, not political spin and empty promises.

I started my career working across all your favourite festivals, Adelaide Fringe, WOMADelaide, Adelaide Film Festival. I learned early that it’s the artist’s role to make political change irresistible, and that intersection between arts and activism is where my focus is now.

I’ve spent the past decade in climate action and human rights advocacy, from coordinating national campaigns at Amnesty International to grassroots climate fundraising. At 27, I bring fresh energy alongside proven experience turning community concerns into real outcomes.

I’ve come to realise that we have all the solutions to our problems. We just need the right leadership, infrastructure, and accountability to see them through. We need better public transport, greener neighbourhoods, and third spaces where people can connect. In a world that feels more divisive than ever, where trust in media and systems is at a low and unprecedented events seem to happen weekly, knowing your neighbours matters more than ever. I’m running to fight for affordable housing, tackle the cost-of-living crisis, protect our coast, and advance First Nations justice.

This moment demands strong climate action.

If you’re worried about the climate crisis, you’re not alone.

Millions of us are worried about rising power bills, environmental destruction and protecting our families from extreme weather.

Labor has approved over 25 more coal and gas projects while in office, while the Liberals’ commitment to fossil fuels remains stronger than ever.

Both take millions in donations from coal and gas corporations to fund their election campaigns. They’re working for their donors, not for people, our planet or the future.

With the Greens in the balance of power in the Senate, this parliament has a real opportunity to deliver strong climate action.

Our plan for ambitious climate action

Our wins on climate and clean energy have shown what’s possible. Now it’s time to push further and lead the world in the move away from coal and gas.

  1. Stop new coal and gas.
  2. Expand publicly-owned renewable energy.
  3. End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations.
  4. End native forest logging.
  5. Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable, clean energy.
  6. Subsidise solar & batteries for homes & businesses.
  7. End fossil fuel subsidies for all industries except agriculture.
  8. Save koalas and our wildlife from extinction.
  9. Create thousands of jobs during the transition.
  10. Provide grants and low-interest loans to help households and small businesses electrify, install solar batteries, and cut emissions and energy bills.
