Hi, I’m Ahmed. I’m running as the socialist candidate for Croydon in the upcoming state election.

1. If elected to the house of assembly I will support real action on issues relating to the ecological and climate emergency

2. I support the application of the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord to inform, when relevant, my position and advocacy on legislation and policy

I’m a programmer in the renewables industry and a local renter. I’m running to be your representative for Croydon.

For the past two years I’ve been part of the movement for peace and justice in Palestine, fighting for our government to take a stronger stand against Israel’s genocide. Last year, I was arrested in my home and briefly jailed under anti-protest laws passed by the Malinauskus government. No matter the consequences though, I won’t be intimidated out of standing for what’s right.

Politics is rigged for billionaires and big corporations. Banks, developers and property investors are making huge profits, while for everyday people, life has gotten harder.

Labor claims to stand for workers. But under Malinauskus’ watch conditions of life for many have declined. Malinauskus was elected on the promise of fixing the healthcare system, yet after four years in power, ambulance ramping has only gotten worse.

It’s time working-class people and all those left behind by the current system fought back.

A government that puts people and the community before profit could easily solve these problems. We could freeze rents for five years to give much-needed relief to renters. We could establish a public builder and build 20,000 new houses over the next four years to get people off the public housing waiting list and into secure housing.

We could solve the crisis in the healthcare system by delivering wage rises and better conditions to staff, and spending more to increase bed numbers and fund bulk-billing clinics.

Instead of this, Labor under Malinauskus has diverted public money to the war industry so South Australia can be the ‘defence state’ and home of AUKUS. He’s stood against the movement to end Israel’s genocide in Gaza, contributing, through his actions, to the cancellation of Adelaide Writers’ Week.

None of this is good for workers and the poor. We need money for housing, healthcare and education, not weapons and other military hardware that ends up contributing to wars in the interests of Israel and the US.

If I’m elected to parliament in March, I’ll fight to scrap subsidies for the weapons industry so we can spend more on things our community actually needs. I’ll continue to stand up for Palestine, push for more investment in sustainability and renewable energy, and fight to make our state somewhere that everyone, no matter their background or circumstances, has what they need to live a decent life.

Suzanne Pope is the Animal Justice candidate for Croydon.

Suzanne Pope worked as a high school teacher before returning to Adelaide University to complete a PhD in Education. More recently she studied for a degree in Environmental Science. She has applied these skills to preparing presentations and submissions on animal issues.

Suzanne has a long history of caring for animals, both as a wildlife rescuer and a foster carer for small kittens. As a carer, she realises only too well how important the government financial support is that other states enjoy, but unfortunately not SA. She strongly supports government funding for the desexing of cats in economically disadvantaged areas. Similarly she supports the Veticare scheme to assist low income earners and rescue organisations to provide medical care for animal companions and rescues.

She believes that political representation is essential because politicians routinely ignore animals in their decision-making. As an example, she is concerned about the shortage of pet-friendly accommodation for families fleeing domestic violence. Another major concern is the government’s continued support for duck shooting, in spite of public opposition and clear evidence of cruelty.

Hi, I’m Ruby Dolling

I’m standing for Croydon because this community deserves representation that reflects its diversity and understands its real challenges. I support strong Greens solutions, including public housing expansion, fair rent controls, affordable public transport and better wages, while advocating for deeper systemic change to ensure the working class can truly thrive.

Since moving to Brompton in 2022, I’ve been actively involved locally and have seen both the strengths of this electorate and where change is urgently needed.

I bring lived experience as a queer, neurodiverse young person, alongside practical political experience through the SA Student Representative Council, Youth Parliament, and leadership roles at Woodville High School. These experiences mean I can clearly articulate Greens policies and, importantly, ground them in the realities facing young people, workers and families.

I’m running because too many voices – particularly young people and public school students – are missing from Parliament. I understand firsthand the pressures on public education, housing, renting, cost of living and transport. I believe I’m a stronger choice than the alternatives because I listen, I represent lived reality, and I’m committed to inclusive, people-powered politics that puts Croydon first.

This moment demands strong climate action.

If you’re worried about the climate crisis, you’re not alone.

Millions of us are worried about rising power bills, environmental destruction and protecting our families from extreme weather.

Labor has approved over 25 more coal and gas projects while in office, while the Liberals’ commitment to fossil fuels remains stronger than ever.

Both take millions in donations from coal and gas corporations to fund their election campaigns. They’re working for their donors, not for people, our planet or the future.

With the Greens in the balance of power in the Senate, this parliament has a real opportunity to deliver strong climate action.

Our plan for ambitious climate action

Our wins on climate and clean energy have shown what’s possible. Now it’s time to push further and lead the world in the move away from coal and gas.

  1. Stop new coal and gas.
  2. Expand publicly-owned renewable energy.
  3. End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations.
  4. End native forest logging.
  5. Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable, clean energy.
  6. Subsidise solar & batteries for homes & businesses.
  7. End fossil fuel subsidies for all industries except agriculture.
  8. Save koalas and our wildlife from extinction.
  9. Create thousands of jobs during the transition.
  10. Provide grants and low-interest loans to help households and small businesses electrify, install solar batteries, and cut emissions and energy bills.
