Outstanding Green Light Candidates
Mathew Fields is the Legalise Cannabis candidate for Elizabeth.
Photo withheld at the candidate’s request due to the ongoing stigma surrounding cannabis law reform. Ending this stigma is part of why we are standing candidates.
Mathew is standing to give South Australians the opportunity to have their say on sensible cannabis law reform.
He supports the Legalise Cannabis South Australia Party’s Cannabis Amnesty policy, which would immediately end penalties for adults who use, possess or grow small amounts of cannabis for personal or medicinal use. The aim is to stop South Australians being fined or criminalised for low level offences and to allow patients who cannot afford prescription medicinal cannabis to grow their own supply.
He also supports changes to South Australia’s drug driving laws so that prescribed medicinal cannabis patients are not penalised simply for the presence of cannabis in saliva when they are not impaired and are following their doctor’s instructions.
Mathew believes these changes would reduce harm, reflect community expectations and move cannabis policy toward a more practical and health focused approach.

Green Light Candidates

Hi, I’m David Deex
I’m a Social Work student and public housing tenant. I’m running for Elizabeth because I love our local community and know that we deserve so much better.
I’ve grown up here in the north, seeing just how hard it is for people to afford the basics like housing, transport, and energy. It’s hard to get around, and our local public schools and TAFE are underfunded. It’s all too easy to despair, but things can be different.
I know first hand how important a secure roof over your head is, so I’ll strongly advocate to build a new generation of quality public housing and upgrade existing homes through reinvesting in the Housing Trust.
Public Transport in the north is infrequent and unreliable. I use it daily, and I understand that we need cheaper fares, more frequent buses and trains, better active transport, and safer streets so that everyone can get where they need.
Our community is also seeing the effects of both inaction on the climate crisis and the privatisation of electricity. We can create good jobs in renewable energy, electrify homes and businesses, and make them more energy efficient. The Greens would power our state with cheaper, cleaner, publicly owned energy.
I’ve learnt a lot as a member of the Anti-Poverty Network and other grassroots groups that advocate tirelessly for housing, economic, environmental, and social justice. The status quo is failing people and our planet.
Together, we can send a strong message to the major parties and the vested interests. We deserve a future where everyone can thrive, not just survive
This moment demands strong climate action.
If you’re worried about the climate crisis, you’re not alone.
Millions of us are worried about rising power bills, environmental destruction and protecting our families from extreme weather.
Labor has approved over 25 more coal and gas projects while in office, while the Liberals’ commitment to fossil fuels remains stronger than ever.
Both take millions in donations from coal and gas corporations to fund their election campaigns. They’re working for their donors, not for people, our planet or the future.
With the Greens in the balance of power in the Senate, this parliament has a real opportunity to deliver strong climate action.
Our plan for ambitious climate action
Our wins on climate and clean energy have shown what’s possible. Now it’s time to push further and lead the world in the move away from coal and gas.
- Stop new coal and gas.
- Expand publicly-owned renewable energy.
- End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations.
- End native forest logging.
- Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable, clean energy.
- Subsidise solar & batteries for homes & businesses.
- End fossil fuel subsidies for all industries except agriculture.
- Save koalas and our wildlife from extinction.
- Create thousands of jobs during the transition.
- Provide grants and low-interest loans to help households and small businesses electrify, install solar batteries, and cut emissions and energy bills.
