Don’t forget how important your vote in the Legislative Council is to creating a Fair Future for all South Australians.

Hi, I’m Frances Bedford.

I was the local voice representing the residents of the Florey electorate between 1997 and 2022. I left the Labor Party in 2017 and became and Independent because I believe the people of the Northern and North Eastern suburbs deserve a local member who actually works for them – not political bosses, parties or factions.

I want to keep fight for local priorities like:

  • More services at the Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals.
  • Free emergency ambulance cover.
  • Making sure local schools are properly resourced.
  • Better funding and resources for local groups and sporting clubs.
  • Reliable public transport services with better facilities, parking and transport links.
  • Support for local businesses.
  • A Housing Plan that really delivers.

I can provide an alternative to the ‘top down’ policies we see from major parties – especially in the ‘safe seats’ they take for granted. Democracy happens every day!

I want genuine community participation and to prioritise the needs of our local community.

Let’s keep the common sense in politics. Vote Independent. Vote for me, Frances Bedford!

Hi, I’m Alexandra.

I’m running because I want to offer an alternative choice to my community, and I believe the policies and values of the Greens will provide an ethical and sustainable path for the future in South Australia, incorporating both care for the environment and people.

Living in this part of Adelaide, I have connected with many community members over the last few years through my voluntary work, sports and community events, and I understand that people desire change. Our population is beautifully diverse in background, age, experiences and culture, and I believe I can gather those voices to bring ongoing opportunities and support. Sustainable living, public, as well as active transport, access to education and training are all areas of interest to me, and I commit to enabling representation that will focus on bringing infrastructure equity to this seat. We can do a lot to make sure our community is a safe environment to live in, to grow, to age and to participate, regardless of demographic.

As an educator and teacher, as a recruitment manager,I have worked at TAFE with adult migrants and refugees, taught and trained teachers at the University of Adelaide and the International College of Hotel Management, and run leadership projects for young people through Welcoming Australia. As a volunteer, I have been involved with Girl Guides and Backpacks for Kids SA.

Sustainability and a sustainable future for all are the motivators that drive me to educate myself, to connect with people and to work towards this campaign. I strongly believe that we need to provide equity as well as equality, and that without justice for all, we cannot thrive as a country. We are a nation of immigrants who must recognise and respect the people who were already here, and together we can build a more cohesive future with sustainability and environmental care underpinning everything we do.

This moment demands strong climate action.

If you’re worried about the climate crisis, you’re not alone.

Millions of us are worried about rising power bills, environmental destruction and protecting our families from extreme weather.

Labor has approved over 25 more coal and gas projects while in office, while the Liberals’ commitment to fossil fuels remains stronger than ever.

Both take millions in donations from coal and gas corporations to fund their election campaigns. They’re working for their donors, not for people, our planet or the future.

With the Greens in the balance of power in the Senate, this parliament has a real opportunity to deliver strong climate action.

Our plan for ambitious climate action

Our wins on climate and clean energy have shown what’s possible. Now it’s time to push further and lead the world in the move away from coal and gas.

  1. Stop new coal and gas.
  2. Expand publicly-owned renewable energy.
  3. End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations.
  4. End native forest logging.
  5. Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable, clean energy.
  6. Subsidise solar & batteries for homes & businesses.
  7. End fossil fuel subsidies for all industries except agriculture.
  8. Save koalas and our wildlife from extinction.
  9. Create thousands of jobs during the transition.
  10. Provide grants and low-interest loans to help households and small businesses electrify, install solar batteries, and cut emissions and energy bills.
