Tim Green is the Legalise Cannabis candidate for MacKillop.
Photo withheld at the candidate’s request due to the ongoing stigma surrounding cannabis law reform. Ending this stigma is part of why we are standing candidates.
Tim is standing to represent the community of MacKillop and to support practical reforms to South Australia’s cannabis laws.
He believes current laws are failing many responsible adults and particularly medicinal cannabis patients who continue to face unfair treatment under drug driving and workplace policies, even when they are not impaired and are following medical advice.
Tim supports the Legalise Cannabis South Australia Party’s proposed Cannabis Amnesty, which would remove penalties for adults who possess or grow small amounts of cannabis for personal or medicinal use. The policy would help prevent people being criminalised for minor offences and allow patients who cannot afford prescription cannabis to grow their own medicine.
He also sees significant opportunity for South Australia to expand its hemp industry. Developing hemp production can create regional jobs, strengthen farming communities and open new opportunities in sustainable manufacturing, agriculture and tourism.
Tim believes sensible reform can reduce stigma, protect patients and deliver new economic opportunities for South Australia.

Green Light Candidates

Hi, I’m Cathy Olsson
I’m proud to be your Greens candidate for Mackillop. I’m running to give people in Mackillop the chance to vote for action on Climate change, a fair and equitable society, and removal of big money from Politics. I know that we need to work together now to ensure a safe and fair future.
I have spent a lot of time on my family’s farm near Padthaway, as well as enjoying many of the region’s other beautiful natural features. I want to give people of Mackillop the opportunity to vote for a future that supports them and their families to have a good life lived with purpose, and recognises our connection to each other and the environment. We need access to quality education for our children and young adults. Our political system needs reform to be able to create solutions to the challenges of climate change, employment insecurity, access to health services, damage to the environment, violence in our society.
I have worked for more than 40 years in leadership positions in speech pathology service provision for people with disabilities, and continue to contribute as a volunteer.
The two-party system isn’t serving South Australians. It is time for our community to be put ahead of the interests of big corporate donors. I will provide true representation and start creating a pathway to meaningful solutions which focus on the present and also work towards a better future. Though new to politics I am well practiced at listening to people, respecting their perspectives and collaborating with others to achieve real outcomes.
This moment demands strong climate action.
If you’re worried about the climate crisis, you’re not alone.
Millions of us are worried about rising power bills, environmental destruction and protecting our families from extreme weather.
Labor has approved over 25 more coal and gas projects while in office, while the Liberals’ commitment to fossil fuels remains stronger than ever.
Both take millions in donations from coal and gas corporations to fund their election campaigns. They’re working for their donors, not for people, our planet or the future.
With the Greens in the balance of power in the Senate, this parliament has a real opportunity to deliver strong climate action.
Our plan for ambitious climate action
Our wins on climate and clean energy have shown what’s possible. Now it’s time to push further and lead the world in the move away from coal and gas.
- Stop new coal and gas.
- Expand publicly-owned renewable energy.
- End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations.
- End native forest logging.
- Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable, clean energy.
- Subsidise solar & batteries for homes & businesses.
- End fossil fuel subsidies for all industries except agriculture.
- Save koalas and our wildlife from extinction.
- Create thousands of jobs during the transition.
- Provide grants and low-interest loans to help households and small businesses electrify, install solar batteries, and cut emissions and energy bills.
