Green Light Candidates

Hi, I’m Samuel Bannon
I’m your Greens candidate for West Torrens in Adelaide’s west.
I was raised in the heart of West Torrens and have lived here for over 20 years. I’ve watched as housing becomes unattainable for young people, our public spaces are handed over to developers, and families struggle to meet basic needs. I believe West Torrens deserves better.
I’ve dedicated my life to helping those in need. With tertiary qualifications in community services and psychological science, I’ve worked with at-risk families, mentored young people, supported asylum seekers, and worked alongside people with disabilities.
This work has shown me the harsh reality that essential support services are often neglected and rarely designed with the community’s best interests in mind. These failings fuel cycles of poverty, limit opportunity, and leave too many people behind.
Australian politicians have ignored the voices of everyday people, instead serving the interests of corporate donors. People are crying out for genuine representation. Someone who will listen and fight for a future that works for everyone.
I want to be that voice for West Torrens. With your support, we can build a community where people don’t just survive – they thrive.
This moment demands strong climate action.
If you’re worried about the climate crisis, you’re not alone.
Millions of us are worried about rising power bills, environmental destruction and protecting our families from extreme weather.
Labor has approved over 25 more coal and gas projects while in office, while the Liberals’ commitment to fossil fuels remains stronger than ever.
Both take millions in donations from coal and gas corporations to fund their election campaigns. They’re working for their donors, not for people, our planet or the future.
With the Greens in the balance of power in the Senate, this parliament has a real opportunity to deliver strong climate action.
Our plan for ambitious climate action
Our wins on climate and clean energy have shown what’s possible. Now it’s time to push further and lead the world in the move away from coal and gas.
- Stop new coal and gas.
- Expand publicly-owned renewable energy.
- End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations.
- End native forest logging.
- Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable, clean energy.
- Subsidise solar & batteries for homes & businesses.
- End fossil fuel subsidies for all industries except agriculture.
- Save koalas and our wildlife from extinction.
- Create thousands of jobs during the transition.
- Provide grants and low-interest loans to help households and small businesses electrify, install solar batteries, and cut emissions and energy bills.
