Dr.Heena Sinha Cheung Community Independent
A Strong Voice. A Fairer Box Hill.
A survivor, a founder of frontline community disability services, a delegate to the United Nations — and the Independent candidate Box Hill deserves.
“There is a quiet anger in Box Hill right now, and I share it. Every day, I talk to women and families who are honestly fed up — tired of being treated like an afterthought by career politicians, and tired of seeing our community sold off in secret developer deals. I’ve spent my life surviving the cracks in a broken system, so I know exactly what it feels like to be invisible. I’m not running to play the game; I’m running to break the silence.”
Vote Climate One Assessment
1. If you are elected to the next Victorian House of Assembly will your policy focus support real action on issues relating to the ecological and climate emergency?
Yes. If elected to the next Victorian Parliament, I will support real and evidence-based action on the ecological and climate emergency. Climate action is not separate from the issues facing our communities — it is connected to our health, cost of living, transport, energy security, biodiversity and the kind of future we leave our children.
As an Independent, I will listen to the evidence, climate and environmental organisations, researchers and my community, and advocate for practical action that both reduces emissions and strengthens the resilience of our communities.
2. Are you prepared to use the application of the 3Rs, the Climate Rescue Accord and the Green Transition to inform, when relevant, your position and advocacy on legislation and policy?
Yes. I am prepared to use the 3Rs, the Climate Rescue Accord and the Green Transition to inform, where relevant, my consideration and advocacy on climate-related legislation and policy.
As an Independent, I will assess legislation on its merits, informed by the best available evidence, expert advice and the voices of affected communities. I believe we need the courage to consider the scale and urgency of the ecological and climate challenge while ensuring that the transition is practical, fair and leaves no community behind.
