Outstanding Green Light Candidates

Mark Eckermann is the Legalise Cannabis candidate for Ramsay.
Mark is retired from the transport industry and has spent much of his retirement giving back to the community through volunteering.
For eight years he volunteered with BlazeAid, helping repair fences for farmers and landholders after fires and floods. When the physical demands of walking long distances along fence lines became too difficult, Mark continued his community service by volunteering as a driver for Meals on Wheels for four years.
Mark has been advocating for the legalisation of adult cannabis use for around 50 years. Earlier in life he was charged under the old criminal laws relating to cannabis and believes those records should be expunged as laws evolve.
He now accesses cannabis through a legal prescription and believes adults should have the right to grow cannabis for their own personal use.
Mark also wants to see fair workplace and driving laws that focus on impairment rather than the mere presence of cannabis. He believes testing methods should measure intoxication levels in a similar way to alcohol limits for driving.
Mark sees significant economic potential in cannabis reform. Legalisation could create new industries and employment opportunities in cultivation, processing and manufacturing. He also supports the expansion of hemp and cannabis based products, including paper, building materials, textiles and other sustainable uses.
For Mark, sensible cannabis reform is about fairness, personal freedom and the opportunity to build new industries for South Australia.

Green Light Candidates

Hi, I’m Luke Skinner
I’m running in this election because Ramsay deserves a representative who will fight for integrity, fairness and equity in our society.
I have a deep connection with this area. I was born at the Lyell McEwin Hospital and raised in Brahma Lodge. I’ve worked in and advocated for our community for years, putting Salisbury and the surrounding areas on the radar of our politicians, and fighting to give our neighbourhood a voice in the decisions that affect us. I vow to keep those I stand to represent at the forefront of everything I do. Whether it’s protecting our environment, defending access to education and healthcare, or holding politicians accountable.
I’ve volunteered with grassroots organisations like the Anti-Poverty Network since before I could even vote, working to shine a light on the struggles we face and prove that there is a better way.
It’s time for action. It’s safe to say that we’re all tired of consecutive governments putting their corporate donors above the needs of our community. I’m here to offer something different: a representative who is accountable to this community, not to big money. I will fight for real action on the cost of living, strong climate leadership, and a fair go for everyone
This moment demands strong climate action.
If you’re worried about the climate crisis, you’re not alone.
Millions of us are worried about rising power bills, environmental destruction and protecting our families from extreme weather.
Labor has approved over 25 more coal and gas projects while in office, while the Liberals’ commitment to fossil fuels remains stronger than ever.
Both take millions in donations from coal and gas corporations to fund their election campaigns. They’re working for their donors, not for people, our planet or the future.
With the Greens in the balance of power in the Senate, this parliament has a real opportunity to deliver strong climate action.
Our plan for ambitious climate action
Our wins on climate and clean energy have shown what’s possible. Now it’s time to push further and lead the world in the move away from coal and gas.
- Stop new coal and gas.
- Expand publicly-owned renewable energy.
- End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations.
- End native forest logging.
- Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable, clean energy.
- Subsidise solar & batteries for homes & businesses.
- End fossil fuel subsidies for all industries except agriculture.
- Save koalas and our wildlife from extinction.
- Create thousands of jobs during the transition.
- Provide grants and low-interest loans to help households and small businesses electrify, install solar batteries, and cut emissions and energy bills.
