Rebecca White (Greens)

I believe positive change is possible. Queensland is a lucky state. Together, we can make sure everyone has access to the things they need to live a good life.

I’ve lived and worked in Greenslopes for over 20 years, raising my three awesome kids. I’m a financial educator, helping startups and women in business improve their financial literacy and a former small business owner.

Much of my volunteer work has focused on helping community groups and school P&Cs raise critical funds to support kids in need. After 15 years of service on our local state school’s P&C, they made me a life member. In these roles, I’ve spent time with hundreds of local families, heard their concerns, and developed a keen understanding of the lack of support everyday people face in the healthcare and education systems.

Right now, it’s clear people are losing faith in a political system focused on putting the interests of a few big corporations and property investors ahead of the rest of us.

But there’s hope.

When we harness the collective power of everyday people, we can fundamentally transform politics. We can have high quality and genuinely free education and healthcare. We can invest in crucialpublic infrastructure like public transport, renewable energy, and affordable housing.

We can achieve all of this if we just make the big corporations and property investors pay their fair share.

I’m fighting to win Greenslopes so that together, we can transform Queensland politics and deliver a better life for everyday Queenslanders. Will you help me?

Jenelle Porter (LCQ)

Jenelle qualifies as an Outstanding Green Light Candidate.

The Legalise Cannabis Queensland Party endorses the vision of the Climate Rescue Accord, to stop and reverse global heating, and recognise the 3Rs as commensurate action to achieve that vision, and have adopted or are on the path to adopting a comprehensive suite of the 3Rs in their policies.

Hemp has some impressive environmental credentials. It grows faster than most weeds, negating the need for herbicides and it is fairly pest resistant. Two crops can be grown per season. It is an excellent crop for carbon sequestration and it can be used to make a strong and pest-resistant building material called hempcrete that continues to absorb carbon dioxide as it cures.

We need urgent measures to stop plastic pollution. Our lives and future depend on it. Bio-plastic materials offer significant advantages for the environment. As they are not made from fossil fuels, they do not produce carbon dioxide when decomposing. In addition, most of them are biodegradable. Everything indicates that they could be an especially important part of solving the climate crisis. Hemp is increasingly being recognised as having tremendous potential in our natural ‘toolbox’ of promising crops for bioplastics.

Policy Statements

  • We care about the future of our planet. A greener bent will give our children and our grandchildren clean/er air and clean/er water. Each of us must try to do our part to innovate, change and respect the environment. Our lives and future depend on it!
  • Plastic waste chokes the planet. Petrochemicals are found in a wide array of household items, from plastic wrap and rubbish bags to plastic bottles. Hemp based plastics decompose in months rather than decades
  • Bio-futures is one of the opportunities that will support future economic development, open the door to new investment and grow employment in regional areas of Queensland
  • Bio-products offer a renewable and environmentally beneficial alternative to existing conventional chemical and fossil fuel refining processes
  • Transitioning to biofuel power stations would lower emissions and create a carbon neutral cycle and thus reduced greenhouse gasses.
  • Reducing our own dependence on mining will protect our water tables from contamination. Fracking would be completely off the agenda

Sally Spain (Greens)

I grew up on the Gold Coast Hinterland and have a deep love for our magnificent area, with its unique climate and rich biodiversity. I have campaigned to preserve Australia’s vanishing natural heritage and to protect animal rights, and will work to ensure the koala, our Queensland emblem, survives.

If we build our economy on the principles of long-term sustainability and science – rather than short-term self-interest and political point-scoring – we can protect both our regional ecosystems and have a prosperous economy.

I will work to reduce the threats of climate change to the Gold Coast and to ensure that all Queenslanders have access to affordable electricity, powered by renewable energy.

Our local public schools need additional funding so that they don’t cost families so much money. In a rapidly changing world, TAFE should be free and never privatised. Everyone should be able to afford to retrain and have a better life.

I want to live in a Queensland where ordinary people can realise the dream of owning their own home through affordable housing, where renters are treated fairly, and where no-one has to endure prolonged homelessness. Property developers should not be able to build without cohesive, publicly owned infrastructure to make sure our communities thrive. We all benefit when the needs of the community are put before developer greed.

I’ll work for a fair go for those struggling with housing affordability and rising costs. It’s time that mining corporations and big banks paid their fair share. The Greens will make them and use that money to build 100,000 public homes, fully fund schools, free childcare, hospitals and essential services.

We’ll freeze rents and cap increases and make groceries cheaper by breaking up the duopoly power of Coles and Woolies and stopping corporate price gouging for essentials.

I want to live in a Queensland where politicians are committed to social and environmental justice and are independent in their actions and decisions – free from the corrosive influence of political donations from big business such as property developers and mining companies. Unlike Labor and the LNP, the Greens don’t take corporate donations, so I’ll represent you – not vested interests.

As your Greens representative, I will work tirelessly for the people of Gaven to ensure everyone can have a good life and no one is left behind. Will you join me?

Elizabeth McAulay (Greens)

As a family and domestic violence lawyer who has worked with some of the most vulnerable members of our community, I have seen the way our political system is failing.

For too long we have had governments that offer band aid solutions to problems, which do nothing to address the systemic issues plaguing our society. We are in the midst of a cost of living crisis, a housing crisis, and a climate crisis.

If nothing changes, things get worse. Rental inflation is reaching heights not seen since the global financial crisis, and it is expected to stay this way until 2026. We need an urgent rent freeze and ongoing cap on rent increases, and to build good quality public homes, so every Queenslander has a secure place to call home.

We need urgent action on skyrocketing costs of living. We’ll cut the cost of groceries by breaking up the Coles/Woolworths duopoly, introduce free public transport with more reliable services, and take back control of our economy with public ownership of essential services.

We’ll make big corporations pay their fair share and fund a better life for all Queenslanders by building 100,000 new homes and making our schools and healthcare genuinely free.

For a sustainable future for Queenslanders, we need to take action on the climate crisis.

Labor and the LNP are in lock step on approving new coal and gas projects, and allowing mining corporations to export the wealth that comes from our resources without paying tax. Instead, we should ban new coal and gas projects with a just transition for workers, and use our massive resource wealth for the benefit of all Queenslanders, like investing in our renewable energy future, fully funded education and healthcare.

LNP and Labor continue to take corporate donations and have repeatedly shown that they will act in the interest of their donors over the interests of Queenslanders. The Greens refuse corporate donations, so we’ll fight for you.

I’m looking forward to meeting as many people in Ferny Grove as I can over the next few months, so please get in touch to let me know how we can work together for a future for all of us.

Brent McDowall (Greens)

I’m a software engineer and a keen badminton player. It has been my great pleasure to be a resident of Everton Hills for more than 20 years, and to raise my family here. As a proud volunteer at the Hills District Police-Citizens Youth Club, I’ve seen how we can all flourish when we work together as part of an engaged and inclusive community.

I’m running to be your state representative because successive Labor and LNP governments have shown they can’t face up to the urgent challenges we face. They are letting big corporations rip us off, keeping their rich donors happy while everyday Queenslanders struggle with the housing crisis and high cost of living.

The Greens are different; We don’t take donations from big corporations. As your MP, I will represent you, not vested interests.

The Greens will take on the big corporations that are ripping off Queenslanders. We’ll cap rents and tax big corporations fairly to build 100,000 public homes. We’ll also use that money to fully fund schools, free childcare, hospitals and essential services.

We’ll make groceries cheaper by breaking up the duopoly power of Coles and Woolies and stopping corporate price gouging for essentials.

The Greens will stop new coal and gas mines and move away from fossil fuels with a fair transition for workers in these industries. We’ll cut power bills with 100% publicly owned renewable energy, and take back control of our economy by bringing key infrastructure and services into public ownership.

We’ll create free and frequent public transport, with more reliable train and bus services to give you the freedom to leave your car at home.

Our community deserves representation in Parliament that fights for us and our needs. Together, we can make it happen. Will you join me?

Katinka Winston-Allom (Greens)

I’m a life-long local with professional experience in community advocacy and support work. I’ve got deep roots in our community – I grew up here attending local schools, and worked in local businesses throughout university. When it came time to start my career, my partner and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else, and we are lucky to call Bardon our home.

Like many Queenslanders, Cooper residents are feeling the pinch. From electricity to groceries, household bills are out of control. Rents and mortgage repayments are soaring, pushing affordability beyond reach. Local businesses are struggling to keep their doors open, causing a devastating loss of jobs, services and community connection. Meanwhile, property developers are making record profits with bad developments that keep property prices and rents high while impacting liveability and character.

We have some of the best teachers and state schools in Queensland, but they’re still underfunded by millions of dollars each year, resulting in overcrowded classrooms, disengaged young people, and more out-of-pocket expenses for families. Our public health system is buckling under the weight of increased physical and mental health impacts in the aftermath of a global pandemic, with nurse and staff burnout at an unacceptable rate.

All of this is against the backdrop of a worsening climate crisis and a political system that puts the best interests of big corporations ahead of us.

It doesn’t have to be like this.

Our state has extraordinary wealth, which should be utilised to ensure a sustainable and fair future for all of us.

A future where everyone has a safe and secure place to call home, by capping rent increases and building more social housing. A future with world class, universal education and public health, and accessible and robust public services like childcare and public transport. A future with cheap, 100% sustainable renewable energy sources, manufactured here in Queensland. And a future where our elected representatives are not on the take from big corporations like banks, property developers and the fossil fuel industry.

The Greens don’t accept corporate donations. As your representative, I’ll work for the interests of our community, and put political decision-making back where it should be: in the hands of the people.

Ellisa Parker (Greens)

My background encompasses meaningful involvement in both the natural resource sector and community development. My roles have included serving as a Project Support Trainer with the Department of Foreign Affairs – Australia Aid, where I contributed to developing sustainable resource management practices and bolstered community capacity for Fijian farmers in collaboration with the Fijian Ministry of Agriculture. Additionally, I have experience as a former forestry officer and land regenerator.

I am currently the area coordinator for Oakey Neighbourhood Watch. This has enabled me to participate in and contribute to many community cohesion and safety initiatives.

I’ve also worked with the Toowoomba migrant community as a training mentor at the Mulberry Project. This program aimed to assist migrants with improving their English, developing skills, and belonging in the community. Additionally, I have acquired experience in supporting cultural and faith communities through my participation with the Together for Humanity Foundation, the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change, and the Toowoomba Interfaith working group.

One of my most treasured experiences was helping fundraise for Lifeline whilst trekking the Kokoda Trail PNG. It allowed me to explore my family’s World War 2 history, achieve a personal adventure goal and gain something positive for the community.

I am passionate about advocating for clean air and water, healthy soils, and resilient rural communities. Unlike other parties, the Greens do not accept corporate donations, so I will work for you – not cower to pressure from wealthy corporations and rich developers. Our communities must always come before their profits.

The Greens will take on the big corporations that are ripping off Queenslanders. We’ll make them pay their fair share and use that money to build 100,000 public homes, fully fund schools, free childcare, hospitals and essential services. We’ll also freeze rents and cap increases.

Jaimyn Mayer (Greens)

I am proudly queer and neurodiverse and have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from QUT. I’m also a young renter with a passion for climate action, social justice and supporting marginalised communities.

I’ve called Brisbane home for the last 17 years but originally grew up in a small mining town in Central Queensland. This gives me a unique perspective when talking about the urgent need to transition away from fossil fuels while protecting the communities that currently rely on them.

I spend most of my spare time volunteering at a charity I founded called Brisbane Makerspace. We help marginalised groups of people connect and socialise in a safe space while learning new skills. I believe community spaces like this are so important, as they give people purpose and reduce social isolation.

For too long, the old parties have been neglecting the needs of everyday people like you and I. They’d rather keep the status quo and tinker around the edges than fight for meaningful change.

When the old parties and their corporate donors make laws that choose profit and greed over community needs, everybody loses. Our local community suffers from skyrocketing rents, mortgages, and unsustainable costs of living.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

The Greens don’t take donations from big corporations, which means as your MP, I’d represent you, not vested interests.

Together, we can make sure that essential services like healthcare and education are properly funded. We can put our electricity network back into public hands. We can create thousands of jobs building and running the public infrastructure we need. We can make sure every Queenslander has a home.

State government services and decisions have a profound impact on our everyday lives. They impact the climate, housing, education and transport. We deserve politicians who will fight for what’s right and not just for their corporate donors. And that’s why I’m running to win, but I need your help.

Will you join me?

I am a public servant, renter, and proud neurodivergent person living in Tingalpa. As a disabled tenant, I have first-hand experience of the consequences of both the housing and cost of living crises.

For too long, big mining corporations, the duopoly of supermarkets like Coles and Woolies and the wealthy real estate industry have had too much power, worsening the lives of everyday Queenslanders.

More investment in public schools, public and social housing, and crisis accommodation is sorely needed. Many parents are paying through the nose for public education, which should be free, and many tenants are one rent increase away from eviction.

No one should have to choose between eating and paying the rent or mortgage. No one should be homeless due to domestic violence or simply because the cost of the roof over their heads is too much.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

The Greens will take on the big corporations that are ripping off Queenslanders. We’ll make them pay their fair share and use that money to build 100,000 public homes, fully fund schools, free childcare, hospitals and essential services. We’ll also freeze rents and cap increases.

With your support, we can make the positive changes Queenslanders desperately need.

Donna Weston (Greens)

I believe that if you want change, you need to create it, and now more than ever, change is urgently needed to build and sustain a fairer future for everyone.

I’ve lived in the Redlands most of my life – for nearly 50 years. I’m a university music lecturer, and while music might seem a long way from politics, I’ve published on the positive role of music in environmental action, First Nations health, and asylum seeker wellbeing. My job brings together my passions – music, the environment and social justice.

Over the decades, the changes I’ve seen in the Redlands are not of the kind I’d like to see – the unsustainable selling out of precious koala and wildlife bushland to property developers, rapidly escalating cost of living, increased crime rates, and dwindling access to affordable healthcare, with little support for community infrastructure.

The two big parties would have you believe that the staggering profits going to big corporations are for the economic benefit of all, and that free healthcare and education are not economically viable.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

An increase in royalties on mining companies in line with the rest of the world would generate $61 billion dollars over 4 years, more than enough to make our schools and healthcare genuinely free, build 100,000 public homes and take financial pressure off millions of everyday Australians.

Sustainability is not just about the environment. A sustainable future is one in which every person has the right to an affordable lifestyle and basic human rights such as education and healthcare. The Greens have a comprehensive economic plan in place to put a stop to spiralling grocery prices and to provide affordable housing and stress-free renting. When financial pressures are reduced, community-building thrives, and that means a safer and more secure Redlands for everyone.

The Greens don’t take corporate donations like other parties so we work for you – not vested interests. We can achieve significant positive change through the support and voices of everyday people who just want what is rightfully theirs – a just and safe future – and who are prepared to use their voting power to achieve it.

If you are looking for real change, join me in this fight.

Pamela Mariko

Pamela is an Outstanding Green Light Candidate

Pamela has a diverse background in business: financial services, project marketing, freelance travel and property writing for national media and industry journals, part-time yoga teacher, and author.

Pamela is not new to the political arena as she has run as a confident candidate in several elections including local government elections in 2020, 2024 and state government elections in 2020 and again in the upcoming general election in October this year.

She has represented AJP Qld as an ordinary committee member and delegate and used her role as Media Liaison to elevate the Party, the Senate and House of Representative candidates through extensive media coverage.

If elected, Pamela would work to ensure the ban on live export could never be overturned by another government. Pamela would advocate for government  incentives to encourage and financially support animal agricultural farmers in transitioning to more lucrative and sustainable farming practices. She would seek to eventually phase out intensive animal farming completely.

“It is time to limit urban sprawl to protect nature, and I would call for an immediate ban on intensive breeding facilities such as puppy mills and kitten farms.”

Her agenda includes greener modes of transport, greener industry – and training, so we, as a country, MAKE things.

Alison McMaster (LCQ)

Alison is an Outstanding Green Light Candidate

ALLISON McMASTER, a typical mum, had her world turned upside down by a devastating diagnosis of terminal cancer, given less than two years to live. The doctors’ prognosis was so grim that her life insurance was paid out and she, her husband and young son started taking their final bucket-list holidays.

It was all Allison needed to start searching for answers and hopefully a cure to this deadly disease. That was in 2013. Now, she is not only free of cancer, but she is in remission. However, it took many operations and much treatment.

Cannabis was her friend, her saviour and the lifeline for which she searched. Allison sings the praises of this wonderful plant which she knows can help so many, and would like to see it freely available to all those who need it.

Allison believes the stigma should be removed, as should the criminal history some find themselves dealing with. She is so passionate about the subject, she wrote a book; ‘Terminal to Remission with Cannabis Oil: An Australian Success Story’.

Peta Higgs (Greens)

I am a practicing Urogynaecologist (a gynecologist who works with people who have pelvic floor dysfunction) on Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi Country (Sunshine Coast) and enjoy my work in Women’s Health and helping my patients achieve the best outcomes. I grew up in Meanjin/Brisbane and trained as a doctor in Queensland, Victoria and overseas.

Working within the public health sector for over 30 years, I have seen the challenges facing people and how they struggle with the cost of living, housing, price of food and power bills and lack of healthcare.

I have also become increasingly aware of the effects of climate change on health and the urgent need for action to protect our planet, biodiversity and human health. The science clearly shows that fossil fuels are a health hazard and the move to renewable energy is possible and economical.

I am tired of seeing big corporations pay next to no tax and make massive donations to the old parties. They should be governing for us – not the highest bidder.

The Greens have a plan to tackle and solve these issues. We will take on the big corporations that are ripping off Queenslanders. We’ll make them pay their fair share and use that money to build 100,000 public homes, fully fund schools, free childcare, hospitals and essential services. We’ll also freeze rents and cap increases.

The Greens will make groceries cheaper by breaking up the duopoly power of Coles and Woolies and stopping corporate price gouging for essentials. We’ll cut power bills with 100% publicly owned renewable energy, and take back control of our economy by bringing key infrastructure and services into public ownership.

The Greens don’t take corporate donations like Labor and the LNP do, so I’ll work for you, not vested interests. I will listen to you, hear your concerns and help you get them addressed in our community and in Parliament.
