Vote Climate One assessed the Animal Justice Party as a Green Light Party. This is a single issue party (animal rights etc.) but has a real commitment to action on climate.
“He would like to inspire a more compassionate government that prioritises the needs of animals, the environment, and future generations.”
Matt Pastro is a teacher at St Mary’s College in Adelaide and a father of 4 children. He has spent most of his adult life living in Adelaide but grew up in a farming community in South Australia. He has been a teacher in several Catholic schools and colleges in Adelaide and Mount Gambier for the past 20 years.
Matt strongly believes in connecting with nature and that students need to build a relationship with animals and the environment for them to invest in caring for both. He has consistently taken classes to enjoy experiences in nature around the state. Both within the school space and personally he has spent countless hours admiring the Port River dolphins within their chosen environment. It has been concerning to witness the declining numbers of dolphins in the river over the last 15 years of taking students to Port Adelaide.
Matt has only recently discovered animal activism and was inspired by his eldest son to get involved in Anonymous For the Voiceless which led to his commitment to the Animal Justice Party. Matt has also joined an animal rights group concerned with the treatment and care for the dolphins in the Port River.
The need for people to challenge others in society as well as governments has become a passion for Matt and he aims to change policies and positions that are unjust, cruel and unnecessary. He would like to inspire a more compassionate government that prioritises the needs of animals, the environment, and future generations.
