Ellisa Parker (Greens)

My background encompasses meaningful involvement in both the natural resource sector and community development. My roles have included serving as a Project Support Trainer with the Department of Foreign Affairs – Australia Aid, where I contributed to developing sustainable resource management practices and bolstered community capacity for Fijian farmers in collaboration with the Fijian Ministry of Agriculture. Additionally, I have experience as a former forestry officer and land regenerator.

I am currently the area coordinator for Oakey Neighbourhood Watch. This has enabled me to participate in and contribute to many community cohesion and safety initiatives

I’ve also worked with the Toowoomba migrant community as a training mentor at the Mulberry Project. This program aimed to assist migrants with improving their English, developing skills, and belonging in the community. Additionally, I have acquired experience in supporting cultural and faith communities through my participation with the Together for Humanity Foundation, the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change, and the Toowoomba Interfaith working group.

One of my most treasured experiences was helping fundraise for Lifeline whilst trekking the Kokoda Trail PNG. It allowed me to explore my family’s World War 2 history, achieve a personal adventure goal and gain something positive for the community.

I am passionate about advocating for clean air and water, healthy soils, and resilient rural communities. Unlike other parties, the Greens do not accept corporate donations, so I will work for you – not cower to pressure from wealthy corporations and rich developers. Our communities must always come before their profits.

The Greens will take on the big corporations that are ripping off Queenslanders. We’ll make them pay their fair share and use that money to build 100,000 public homes, fully fund schools, free childcare, hospitals and essential services. We’ll also freeze rents and cap increases.

The Greens will make groceries cheaper by breaking up the duopoly power of Coles and Woolies and stopping corporate price gouging for essentials. We’ll cut power bills with 100% publicly owned renewable energy, and take back control of our economy by bringing key infrastructure and services into public ownership.

As your representative, I will listen to you and I will fight for you. Together, we can make it happen.
