You can learn about how to effectively use Traffic Light Voting Guides for the upcoming Federal election by following this link to our video and familiarising yourself with its instructions:

Here’s how you can make climate a compelling issue locally.

Hand out Traffic Light A5 How to Vote cards at polling booths. Phone or text 0427 580 803 to arrange for print ready artwork tailored for your electorate. You can then print the How to Vote card using your home printer or for larger numbers use the services of a commercial printer.

This is particularly effective to help add extra reach to Green Light independent campaigns and draw in swinging voters. Vote Climate One’s assessment of candidates has the elevated status of being fiercely independent.

Claire Miles (Independent)

Claire qualifies as an Outstanding Green Light Candidate

I have proudly served in the Royal Australian Air Force for over 27 years, dedicating my career to representing Australia both at home and abroad. The Air Force has given me the opportunity to live and work across the country, allowing me to deeply understand the unique challenges and strengths of different communities. Wearing the uniform every day has been a privilege—one that has reinforced my commitment to service, leadership, and making a difference.

Throughout my career, I have worked to keep our personnel healthy and safe while deployed, delivered critical public health advice across the Indo-Pacific, and gained extensive experience in strategic policy development. These experiences have sharpened my ability to think critically about the issues facing our country—how our decisions impact not only Australians but also our closest neighbours and the broader global community.

I am married to Mark, and together we have three wonderful children who are active members of our community. They are deeply engaged with the political landscape and want to see real action on climate as they witness the increasing frequency of extreme weather events and the risks to their health. Like many young Australians, they struggle to see a future as homeowners and, unsurprisingly, they have little confidence that the government is acting with integrity or putting their generation first. Their concerns drive me to push for a future that is sustainable, fair, and filled with opportunity for the next generation.

My life experiences and professional journey have shaped my pragmatic and centrist approach to politics. I stand for people, not party politics. I am not tied to any faction, which means I can focus solely on delivering practical solutions and real outcomes for our community.

At the core of my career has been a simple but powerful mission: connecting with people and advocating for better. As an Independent for Canberra, I am committed to listening to you and ensuring that your voice is heard in Parliament. In a minority government, our electorate could hold the balance of power, giving Canberra a stronger voice than ever before.

Teresa McTaggart (AJP)

The team at Vote Climate One may in some cases change our Traffic Light voting advice right up to the day before election day. Here are some examples of the reasons for late changes.

  • Sometimes it is very difficult to access ranking information from parties or candidates who are difficult to contact or have little internet profile. In these cases we apply the precautionary principle with a Red Light ranking until further information and commitment to climate rescue comes to hand.
  • Aside from climate policy, dodgy preference deals which will have a negative effect on the election of Green Light candidates can demote a Green Light candidate or party to Orange. Conversely a Red Light candidate or party can be promoted to orange if it can be seen that a preference deal assists the election of Green Light candidates.

Teresa has extensive experience in both the public sector and private sector, with a career spanning management, IT, policy, cyber security and small business.

Over the years, she has seen the lack of action by elected officials regarding animal welfare, particularly native animals, and the ever growing issues of climate change. Teresa is concerned about the future for all Australians and believes that concerns raised by grassroots Australians are overlooked in favour of big businesses and well-funded lobbyists.

She became a member of the AJP after deciding it was important to take action and effect change at a political level. She is standing to represent the people of Canberra to ensure their voices are heard and action is taken.

Key Election Priorities

  • Delivering to climate change commitments
  • Funding grassroots wildlife and animal rescue organisations
  • Stronger legislation against cruelty
  • Put the focus again back on delivering the Very Fast Train (VFT) for Canberra and other transport improvements.
  • Ensure government services are accessible for all in the community
  • Housing availability that is affordable
  • Deliver AFP and ACT Policing initiatives and ensure work facilities are fit for purpose.

The AJP endorses the 3Rs and supports the Climate Rescue accord

Isabel Mudford (Greens)

Hey, I’m Isabel and I’m excited to be running for the seat of Canberra in the upcoming federal election for the ACT Greens! I’m a PhD candidate, social sector worker and LGBTIQA+ advocate.

Canberrans are people who care about each other, about the beautiful and precious environment that we get to live in, they care about inequality.

Because of this, I reckon Canberrans want a member of parliament who has the capacity to serve them in these values.

For too long Labor has taken Canberra for granted, and in this term alone has approved new coal and gas projects, failed to address the housing crisis and refused to raise the rate of Jobseeker.

By voting Greens into parliament, Canberrans can have a representative who will tackle the climate and cost of living crises, and reflect the progressive values of our electorate.

The team at Vote Climate One may change our Traffic Light voting advice right up to shortly before election day. For instance it is very difficult to access ranking information from parties or candidates who have no public email, phone number or little internet profile. In these cases, we apply the precautionary principle with a Red Light ranking until further information and commitment to climate rescue comes to hand.

The House of Representitives

Labor is ranked Orange for the House of Reps. The opportunity for a Green Transition, sparked by the influence of a progressive cross bench holding the balance of power in a Labor minority government, is our bet bet for climate rescue.

The Senate

Likewise our senate Traffic Light Voting Guides also promote Labor ahead of the Coalition using an Orange Light status. This stategy will help discourage the worst senario for climate action which would result from a combative Coalition/right wing party majority in the senate.
