Green Light Candidates
Rohan Laxmanalal (AJP)

Rohan qualifies as an Outstanding Greenlight Candidate
Rohan Laxmanalal is the Animal Justice Party (AJP) candidate for Chifley in the 2025 Federal Election. Born in Westmead, Rohan has deep roots in Western Sydney, where he has lived for most of his life. With a background in Finance and Mathematics, he now specialises in renewable energy and environmental markets—key areas that will shape Australia’s future.
Rohan is passionate about tackling climate change, and he recognises that animal agriculture is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and biodiversity loss. Unlike other political parties, the Animal Justice Party is the only party that fully acknowledges this reality and has policies to address it.
Rohan is also a strong advocate for Veticare, a policy aimed at providing affordable vet care for families and their beloved pets. In the midst of a cost-of-living crisis, too many families are being forced to make heartbreaking decisions about their animals’ health due to skyrocketing vet costs. Rohan will fight to make sure veterinary care is accessible and affordable, ensuring that no pet suffers simply because their family can’t afford treatment.
Having run as an AJP candidate five times, both in state and federal elections, Rohan is deeply committed to bringing real change to Western Sydney. He is also an active volunteer, engaging in vegan street outreach at food markets across NSW to educate the public about the ethical, environmental, and health benefits of a plant-based future.
If elected, Rohan will use his platform to push for climate action, animal protection, and Veticare, ensuring that government policies put people, animals, and the planet first.
Outside of politics, Rohan enjoys spending time with his sister’s dogs, playing cricket, tennis, and rugby league, and continuing his passion for fitness and nutrition. Contact Rohan [email protected]
AJP supports the 3Rs and endorses the Climate Rescue Accord
Sukhjinder Singh (Greens)

My background as a person of colour and as a migrant has given me a deep, personal understanding of the unique hurdles faced by diverse communities across Western Sydney. I am running to bring meaningful social change, empower our communities, and ensure equitable policies that reflect our values and protect our future.
I stand for change – change of the kind that benefits all of us and protects our planet. Change that reduces the cost of living, addresses the housing crisis, prioritises those who are most vulnerable in our communities, and places tackling climate change above the profits of big corporations.
I stand for change that supports young people to establish their own homes and build a secure future. Change that makes it safe for people to speak out against injustices, such as the genocide in Gaza. Change that gives people confidence that their government will stand up for human rights and support marginalised communities
I am committed to ensuring that the voices of First Nations and multicultural communities in Western Sydney are actively represented in the federal Parliament, particularly as these communities are often at the forefront of social and environmental challenges.
A country is a community, not a corporation. It deserves a government that treats it as such.
As a resident and concerned citizen of Western Sydney, I firmly believe that our region should not become a hub for manufacturing weapons. The future we envision for this community is one grounded in peace, sustainability, and human flourishing—not one where our economy is tethered to the production of instruments that perpetuate violence and conflict.
We can no longer keep voting for the same two parties and expect a different outcome. These parties have long served the interests of the rich and powerful, not the people. It’s time to vote for the party of the future, the Greens party – the party that will fight for you.
People are hungry for change, and it’s already here. The people of this country will not stand for massive arms deals while so many still lack basic shelter and struggle to feed their families.
The time for change is now.
TRAFFIC LIGHT VOTING GUIDE ASSESSMENT WARNING
The team at Vote Climate One may change our Traffic Light voting advice right up to shortly before election day. For instance it is very difficult to access ranking information from parties or candidates who have no public email, phone number or little internet profile. In these cases, we apply the precautionary principle with a Red Light ranking until further information and commitment to climate rescue comes to hand.
Please contact us if you have local information which could effect our rankings. Phone Rob 0n 0427 580 803
The major parties have let the Australian public down when it comes a serious policy commitment to action on the ecological and climate crisis. Consequently, we have assessed both the Labor party and the Coalition as Red Light parties. Nevertheless, in relation to our Traffic Light Voting guides, the Labor party has been ranked orange ahead of the Coalition which remains a stubborn Red Light proposition.
The House of Representitives
Labor is ranked Orange for the House of Reps. The opportunity for a Green Transition, sparked by the influence of a progressive cross bench holding the balance of power in a Labor minority government, is our bet bet for climate rescue.
The Senate
Likewise our senate Traffic Light Voting Guides also promote Labor ahead of the Coalition using an Orange Light status. This stategy will help discourage the worst senario for climate action which would result from a combative Coalition/right wing party majority in the senate.
