Green Light Candidates
Vanessa Blazi (AJP)

Vanessa is an Outstanding Green Light Candidate
From a very young age, Vanessa has always had a passion for animal justice, welfare and rights. Seeing the mistreatment of animals led her to a path of animal rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming. For years, Vanessa has stood on the frontline trying to make a difference to animals, usually one, two and sometimes three at a time. She never felt like it was enough.
Since coming across the Animal Justice Party, Vanessa has advocated for its importance and has been honoured to become a member, volunteer and more recently, Regional Group Leader for the Division of Lindsay. The injustices upon animals in Australia needs a voice and she could not be prouder than to be a part of such a movement.
Vanessa’s values align with the ethos of kindness, equality, rationality and non-violence, aligned with that of the AJP, and truly believes it is her purpose in life to help the voiceless. Knowing that each and every animal deserves to be treated with respect, compassion and consideration.
Vanessa has lived in the Penrith area for 15 years and is a local business owner working with animals and people alike. She strives to support other small businesses to make the community a safe and thriving one. Vanessa feels honoured to live and work in such a beautiful part of NSW and would be privileged to represent the people and animals of her wonderful region, which is adorned with natural beauty, from bushland to water, Penrith has it all, including a flourishing CBD.
Prior to working with animals, she worked in the corporate sector managing a national department, having completed a degree in sociology, majoring in humanities. Vanessa is also studying animal welfare to better her knowledge on animal sentience, sapience and psychology.
AJP supports the 3Rs and endorses the Climate Rescue Accord
Aaron McAllister (Greens)

I have lived in Penrith my entire life and I am proud to be part of this diverse community. I’m a Water Engineer specialising in flood modelling. As such, I view things through the lens of systems—and the systems we have in Australia are rigged against working-class people. Like the hundreds of Greens candidates all over the country I am part of a local group, that focuses on the local issues, not constrained by interest of billionaires and corporations who fund the major parties.
The profit motive of our system has driven people from stable housing, eroded access to healthcare, stratified education and degrades our natural environment. All supported by the two major parties, at the behest of their donors. The Greens through positive policy will always look to uplift all members of the community, regardless of race, religion, gender and sexuality. We stand in solidarity with migrant communities and acknowledge that immigration has always been a net benefit to Australia since its modern founding. Where others will use division in the community, the Greens will always focus on the material reality and fight against the Neo-Liberal (profit over people) policies of Labor and the LNP.
A vote for The Greens offers real solutions to the working-class people of Lindsay.
By taxing billionaires and big corporations we will implement policies to:
- Make a real commitment to tackling climate change, so our children are not left with an unimaginable burden.
- Boost Medicare to encourage free GP visits, and include dental and mental heathcare in Medicare; and
- Fix the housing crisis by increasing public and affordable housing, increasing renters and mortgage-holders rights, and ending tax concessions for wealthy property investors; and,
- Fully fund public school education, make TAFE and university free for all, wipe all student debt, and;
- Make a real commitment to tackling climate change, so our children are not left with an unimaginable burden.
This election more than any in recent history has the chance to put the Greens into the balance of power, where real meaningful changes are possible.
TRAFFIC LIGHT VOTING GUIDE ASSESSMENT WARNING
The team at Vote Climate One may change our Traffic Light voting advice right up to shortly before election day. For instance it is very difficult to access ranking information from parties or candidates who have no public email, phone number or little internet profile. In these cases, we apply the precautionary principle with a Red Light ranking until further information and commitment to climate rescue comes to hand.
Please contact us if you have local information which could effect our rankings. Phone Rob 0n 0427 580 803
The major parties have let the Australian public down when it comes a serious policy commitment to action on the ecological and climate crisis. Consequently, we have assessed both the Labor party and the Coalition as Red Light parties. Nevertheless, in relation to our Traffic Light Voting guides, the Labor party has been ranked orange ahead of the Coalition which remains a stubborn Red Light proposition.
The House of Representitives
Labor is ranked Orange for the House of Reps. The opportunity for a Green Transition, sparked by the influence of a progressive cross bench holding the balance of power in a Labor minority government, is our bet bet for climate rescue.
The Senate
Likewise our senate Traffic Light Voting Guides also promote Labor ahead of the Coalition using an Orange Light status. This stategy will help discourage the worst senario for climate action which would result from a combative Coalition/right wing party majority in the senate.
