Green Light Candidates
Rebekha Sharkie (Elected Independent)

Rebekha Sharkie MP represents the regional electorate of Mayo in South Australia, including the Adelaide Hills, the Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island.
First elected in 2016, Rebekha is the first woman to represent the electoral region and is now the longest serving female House of Representatives crossbench member since Federation.
Rebekha works hard to Make Mayo Matter and follows the principle of always putting her community first and being their independent voice.
Issues championed by Rebekha in the Parliament include aged care reform, climate action, regional housing, employment and infrastructure, political donation reform, gambling reform and honesty, integrity and accountability in politics.
During her time in Parliament Rebekha has served on a number of Parliamentary Committees including the Standing Committee on Education, Employment & Training, Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters, the Standing Committee on Infrastructure, Transport and Cities, the Minister for Indigenous Australians’ Parliamentarians Working Group.
Currently Rebekha is a member of the Select Committee on Workforce Australia Employment Services, the House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture, the Parliamentary Education Office Advisory Committee and the Selection Committee.
In July 2022, Rebekha was appointed to the Speaker’s Panel and is the first female crossbench member to be bestowed this honour.
Rebekha lives in the Adelaide Hills with her husband Nathan and Great Dane Lulu, and is a mother to three adult children.
