Here’s how you can make climate a compelling issue locally.
Hand out Traffic Light A5 How to Vote cards at polling booths. Phone or text 0427 580 803 to arrange for print ready artwork tailored for your electorate. You can then print the How to Vote card using your home printer or for larger numbers use the services of a commercial printer.
This is particularly effective to help add extra reach to Green Light independent campaigns and draw in swinging voters. Vote Climate One’s assessment of candidates has the elevated status of being fiercely independent.

Green Light Candidates
Dr Verity Cooper (Independent)

Verity qualifies as an Outstanding Green Light Candidate
1) If elected to Federal Parliament, I will be supporting real action to reduce fossil fuel use, expand rapidly renewable energy transition, and support measures to reduce methane and carbon pollution, as a matter of urgency. We need to do everything we can in the next 10 years, to avoid the critical tipping points that signal environmental disaster for this planet.
2) I support the application of the 3Rs, the Climate Rescue Accord and the Green Transition , to inform, when relevant, my position and advocacy on legislation and policies.
I’m running as an Independent because Sturt deserves an Independent federal representative who can be trusted to put the interests of our communities first.
We need someone who listens, cares about people, not party politics, and knows how to get things done.
I’ve lived in Sturt for over 30 years. As a local GP, I’ve served this community and truly understand its needs. I’ve built trust with people by working alongside them to tackle their healthcare challenges and find real solutions together.
Over the past few decades, trust in politicians and our democratic institutions has steadily eroded, and I’m committed to changing that.
I’m not a career politician – I’m a real doctor, not a spin doctor.
I’m a mum, a small business owner, and part of a family with deep roots in South Australia. I understand the daily struggles small businesses face, from rising costs to navigating complex regulations.
Free from party politics – I’ll focus on our community
I understand the frustration felt by many that our political system lacks transparency and accountability – trust in politicians is at an all-time low.
I’m not tied to any political party.
I’m committed to integrity in government and free to focus on what really matters; practical solutions for Sturt.

Katie McCusker (Greens)

I was born, raised, and continue to live in the suburbs of eastern Adelaide. One of my first jobs was pouring drinks at the Kensington Districts Cricket Club! Now I’m raising my beautiful son here as well.
I’ve dedicated my life to fighting for our community, and have worked as a renters advocate and public health administrator. I’ve seen first hand the impact that the cost of living crisis is having in our area.
As someone who cares deeply about our community, it’s devastating to see how many people are struggling to make ends meet. Instead of tackling the problems people face, both Labor and the Liberals are serving their corporate donors and allowing them to make massive profits at the expense of people.
Change is possible. Sturt is one of the most winnable seats for the Greens in the nation. If just 1 in 10 people change their vote at the next election, the Greens will win Sturt.
Change is already happening. I ran for Sturt last election and the Greens vote reached neTRAFFIC LIGHT VOTING GUIDE ASSESSMENT WARNING
The team at Vote Climate One may in some cases change our Traffic Light voting advice right up to the day before election day. Here are some examples of the reasons for late changes.
- Sometimes it is very difficult to access ranking information from parties or candidates who are difficult to contact or have little internet profile. In these cases we apply the precautionary principle with a Red Light ranking until further information and commitment to climate rescue comes to hand.
- Aside from climate policy, dodgy preference deals which will have a negative effect on the election of Green Light candidates can demote a Green Light candidate or party to Orange. Conversely a Red Light candidate or party can be promoted to orange if it can be seen that a preference deal assists the election of Green Light candidates.
Please contact us if you have local information which could effect our rankings. Phone Rob 0n 0427 580 803w heights. I then ran in the Dunstan by-election, a state electorate that overlaps with Sturt, and again the Greens vote was unprecedented. We have worked hard to get to this moment.
But I didn’t do it alone. Far from it! I was supported by hundreds of passionate Greens volunteers. Our messages were amplified by conversations at people’s doors, corflutes on fences, and flyers in letterboxes.
I will continue to advocate for renters and stressed mortgage holders, take on the big supermarkets and end price gouging, push for an end to new coal and gas projects, and make the big corporations pay their fair share of tax, so we can use that money to fund world class health and education.
We are already building a huge people powered campaign in Sturt. Can you sign up to volunteer with us?
The major parties are funded by big corporations, but we are backed by people. If you’re able, please chip in.
And finally, if you want change, the first step is voting for someone who will fight for you.
I hope I can count on your vote.
TRAFFIC LIGHT VOTING GUIDE ASSESSMENT WARNING
The team at Vote Climate One may change our Traffic Light voting advice right up to shortly before election day. For instance it is very difficult to access ranking information from parties or candidates who have no public email, phone number or little internet profile. In these cases, we apply the precautionary principle with a Red Light ranking until further information and commitment to climate rescue comes to hand.

The major parties have let the Australian public down when it comes a serious policy commitment to action on the ecological and climate crisis. Consequently, we have assessed both the Labor party and the Coalition as Red Light parties. Nevertheless, in relation to our Traffic Light Voting guides, the Labor party has been ranked orange ahead of the Coalition which remains a stubborn Red Light proposition.
The House of Representitives
Labor is ranked Orange for the House of Reps. The opportunity for a Green Transition, sparked by the influence of a progressive cross bench holding the balance of power in a Labor minority government, is our bet bet for climate rescue.
The Senate
Likewise our senate Traffic Light Voting Guides also promote Labor ahead of the Coalition using an Orange Light status. This stategy will help discourage the worst senario for climate action which would result from a combative Coalition/right wing party majority in the senate.
