Green Light Candidates
Xavier Menta (LCP)

Xavier Menta is a proud son of the west, born and raised in the community he now seeks to represent. A loud, passionate and dedicated cannabis advocate, he is running to push for fairer laws, greater personal freedom and a more compassionate approach to policy.
With deep ties to the Gorton electorate, Xavier has spent five years coaching grassroots sports, strengthening his connection to the people and understanding both the challenges and strengths of the local community. His commitment extends beyond cannabis reform, he is also a strong advocate for better public transport, including much-needed improvements to bus services in the west.
Xavier has witnessed firsthand the harm caused by prohibition and the urgent need for reform. Legalising cannabis isn’t just about personal choice, it’s about justice, economic opportunity and sustainability. A regulated cannabis industry could create over 100,000 jobs, build a multi-billion-dollar economy and help reduce carbon emissions, all while freeing up police and court resources to focus on real crime.
Throughout his campaign, Xavier looks forward to meeting as many people as possible and having open, honest conversations about cannabis, policy and the future of Gorton. He is ready to stand up for the community and fight for a future built on fairness, opportunity and common sense.
Thuc Bao Huynh Greens

I’m living in the west and was born and raised here. I’m passionate about our diverse multicultural community and I want to empower people to live their best lives and contribute to their communities.
Labor is taking the West for granted. They’re out of touch with what our community needs and cares about. We’re ready for better.
As your Greens candidate for Gorton, I know how much we are struggling. Rents and mortgages are soaring, grocery prices are out of control and the major parties are doing nothing about it.
Both the major parties take millions of dollars in donations from big corporations and put their corporate mates before you. The Greens don’t and we’re committed to fighting for you.
We want to make big corporations pay their fair share of tax and fund things we all need, like dental and mental health into Medicare, government-built homes to rent and buy, cheaper mortgages, 50 cent public transport fares, a rent freeze and a cap on grocery prices.
In a wealthy country like ours, everyone should be able to afford the basics and governments should actually solve the problems we face.
The electorate of Gorton knows they deserve more, and I am ready to demand it. If you want change, it’s time to vote for it.
