You can learn about how to effectively use Traffic Light Voting Guides for the upcoming Federal election by following this link to our video and familiarising yourself with its instructions:

Here’s how you can make climate a compelling issue locally.

Hand out Traffic Light A5 How to Vote cards at polling booths. Phone or text 0427 580 803 to arrange for print ready artwork tailored for your electorate. You can then print the How to Vote card using your home printer or for larger numbers use the services of a commercial printer.

This is particularly effective to help add extra reach to Green Light independent campaigns and draw in swinging voters. Vote Climate One’s assessment of candidates has the elevated status of being fiercely independent.

Devon qualifies as an Outstanding Green Light Candidate

Devon Starbuck was born and raised in the outer suburbs of Melbourne and brings a grounded, practical perspective to politics. A carpenter by trade, Devon has worked in construction management across a variety of roles—including running his own small business and working as a consultant—both in Australia and overseas.

His broad life experience and extensive travel have shaped his view of the world and fuelled his passion for social justice and cannabis reform. Having personally witnessed the harm caused by outdated and punitive cannabis laws, Devon is determined to fight for evidence-based policy and fairer outcomes for all Australians.

Devon is also deeply engaged in his community. He enjoys cooking, outdoor adventures, volunteering locally, and spending time with family and friends.

He’s stepping up because he’s seen how the major parties have let young families down. Devon knows the cost of living crisis is hurting not just the most vulnerable but most Australians—and he’s ready to be a voice for change.

Fiona Aden-James (AJP)

Fiona qualifies as an Outstanding Green Light Candidate

Fiona has been a passionate and peaceful animal advocate all her life, beginning at age five when she was proudly awarded an ‘Animal Defender’ badge from the British Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

She is proud to stand as the Animal Justice Party’s candidate for Hawke in the 2025 Federal Election.

To Fiona, there is nothing more important than the wellbeing of the environment and wildlife – Australia’s greatest assets. And it is becoming evident that our own wellbeing is inextricably linked to that of the natural world.

With commercial kangaroo slaughter on the rise, Fiona is deeply concerned about the lack of protection that our wildlife is afforded under the law. Further, knowing that protection overlays are not enough to prevent tree clearing from development, Fiona has seen the displacement of wildlife in her region. When elected, Fiona will advocate for effective laws which carefully consider planning for nature corridors for wildlife, protect biodiversity and see investment into innovative technologies to protect wildlife and the environment.

Having cared for rescue animals herself, Fiona has seen the impact of inhumane farming practices legal in Australia.

Beginning Community Services work in Neighbourhood Houses and Community Centres in 1990, Fiona has since been involved in disability advocacy, community garden projects and wellbeing initiatives for elderly communities.

As a qualified and experienced crisis counsellor, Fiona is passionate about mental health intervention and providing crisis support for women with children. She has witnessed first-hand that both mental health and disability services like the NDIS are failing – and these are areas that Fiona will push for transformation in order to place people with lived experience first.

Fiona has also spent 20 years actively involved in creating groups within her local community which provide support and social opportunities for all LGBTQIA+ people.

Fiona is running as your candidate to continue creating a better future for all – one where wildlife, forests and natural spaces are protected, animals are treated with respect and all people are able to enjoy happy and healthy lives.

When she isn’t busy campaigning or volunteering, you can find Fiona beginning restoration projects on old wooden treasures with the companionship of her rescue cat Coco.

Sarah Newman (Greens)

I’m a passionate local, committed to giving our community a voice.

I have lived in Sunbury since I was 10 years old and I’ve watched our community being taken for granted by Labor.

If you’re worried about the cost of rent, mortgages or food, you’re not alone. I’m sick of watching our community being ripped off by big corporations making massive profits and I’m committed to fighting for outcomes for everyday people.

We can’t keep voting for the same two parties and expecting a different result.

The Greens are fighting for cheaper groceries, a rent freeze, a stop to the interest rate increases and delivering low rate mortgages.

We want to make big corporations pay their fair share of tax to fund things we all need, like dental and mental health into Medicare and making sure you can see the GP for free.

These solutions work and will make life better for millions of people.

This election, don’t let the major parties take your vote for granted. Nothing changes, if nothing changes.

If you want change, you have to vote for it.

This time, Vote 1 Greens.

The team at Vote Climate One may change our Traffic Light voting advice right up to shortly before election day. For instance it is very difficult to access ranking information from parties or candidates who have no public email, phone number or little internet profile. In these cases, we apply the precautionary principle with a Red Light ranking until further information and commitment to climate rescue comes to hand.

Please contact us if you have local information which could effect our rankings. Phone Rob 0n 0427 580 803

The House of Representitives

Labor is ranked Orange for the House of Reps. The opportunity for a Green Transition, sparked by the influence of a progressive cross bench holding the balance of power in a Labor minority government, is our bet bet for climate rescue.

The Senate

Likewise our senate Traffic Light Voting Guides also promote Labor ahead of the Coalition using an Orange Light status. This stategy will help discourage the worst senario for climate action which would result from a combative Coalition/right wing party majority in the senate.
