Mathew Slater

Mathew has qualified as an outstanding Green Light candidate

  1. If you are elected to the next Northern Territory Parliament will your vote focus on support for real action on issues relating to the ecological and climate emergency.

As someone deeply passionate about sustainable planning, I’ve witnessed the impact of poor development firsthand during my thirty years in Howard Springs. Fragile ecosystems have suffered, natural water systems disrupted, and our native flora and fauna have faced losses. Serving as an elected member on the Litchfield Council for the past decade, I’ve consistently advocated to government agencies about the urgent necessity for thoughtful development planning. Our collective efforts to preserve the natural environment play a crucial role in building a sustainable future for everyone. If I am successful, I will continue to advocate (include vote for) and support actions that  authentically aim at addressing the current ecological and climate emergency.

  1. Are you prepared to use the application of the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord to inform, when relevant, your position and advocacy on legislation and policy.

I fully support the 3R’s and the Climate Rescue Accord.  The 3R’sReduce, Reuse, and Recycle—are fundamental principles for sustainable living. By reducing our consumption, reusing items whenever possible, and recycling materials, we contribute to minimizing waste and conserving resources. These practices align with the Climate Rescue Accord, a global initiative aimed at combating climate change. As an advocate for environmental preservation, I wholeheartedly support these efforts. These principles have underpinned my advocacy regarding rural matters and sustainable development planning. If I am successful, I will use these principles to inform and advocate on legislation and policy.
