Green Light Candidates
Jim Davies (Greens)
I came to the Nudgee area twenty years ago to raise our family. It’s amazing how having kids has connected me to our community. From swim-club fundraisers to the P&C, people join in with their neighbours to try and to make things better.
I’ve worked for the Queensland Government for 25 years, mostly in the environmental sphere. I’m a passionate advocate for preserving and protecting what remains of our local habitats.
A long-time union delegate, I took on the Newman government’s lackies in our workplace, and have received multiple Union Activist Awards for this work over the years.
I first ran for the Greens locally in 2020, this will be my second time putting my hat in the ring for Nudgee.
I can see that people are doing it tough, both in our own neighbourhood and right across Queensland. Local businesses seem to be closing every week, rents and mortgages are soaring, homelessness is commonplace and I’m losing count of the climate fuelled disasters in recent times.
Dabbling around the edges with watered down Greens policies like temporary price cuts on train fares just isn’t going to cut it, it really is time for major change.
LNP and Labor continue to take corporate donations and have repeatedly shown that they will act in the interest of their donors over the interests of Queenslanders. The Greens refuse corporate donations, so we’ll fight for you.
The Greens will take on the big corporations that are ripping off Queenslanders. We’ll cap rents and tax big corporations fairly to build 100,000 public homes. We’ll also use that money to fully fund schools, hospitals and essential services.
Real change starts with electing someone who’ll fight for you and what you believe in.
Join me in making a difference both locally and across this beautiful state.
