Green Light Candidates
Chris Simpson (Independent Democrats)
Chris qualifies as an Outstanding Green Light Candidate.
I will support the use of the 3Rs and the Climate Rescue Accord to underpin decisions I will make in the Queensland legislative Assembly in relation to action on the climate emergency.
We simply cannot “tinker around the edges” any longer.
We need dynamic action NOW with evidence based, engineering and construction solutions that lead to renewables for generation and long term storage; both hydro and battery as a core focus.
Rachel Kennedy (Greens)
For as long as I can remember I’ve cared deeply about the world around us. I became involved in politics because I believe a better future is not only possible but essential.
As a young person and recent graduate, I’ve already met and spoken to so many Brisbane northsiders with my work in the busy hospitality sector, coaching students in public speaking and debating, and in community advocacy including volunteering for domestic violence prevention with local organisations in Sandgate.
Right now, politics is failing our communities. We are in a climate, housing and cost of living crisis and the old parties refuse to fight for the future we deserve.
A future that sees genuinely free and fully funded health and education, that sees meaningful long-term cost of living relief like free and frequent public transport, a rent freeze, lower power bills and real action on the climate crisis by transitioning to 100% publicly owned renewable energy.
We deserve a future where our parliament is as diverse as our communities in Sandgate, Shorncliffe, Brighton, Bracken Ridge, Deagon, Taigum, and Fitzgibbon, and where our politicians stand up for what really matters. I love our local community where we look out for our young, old, and everyone in between. I know we can put people before profits with fully funded health, education, and public transport, and where everyone has a place to call home.
The Greens don’t take corporate donations which means I will fight for you, not vested interests like big corporations, property developers and coal billionaires.
This election we have the chance to transform politics in Queensland. Will you help us fight for a future for all of us?
