Green Light Candidates

Benjamin Harry (Greens)

I’m a Brisbane local, planting roots in the Springwood area. I grew up in Ipswich and have lived in Toowoomba, Caboolture and now Logan. I’ve experienced the Queensland storms and have seen these areas recover, develop and thrive over my lifetime.

Right now, folks are being crushed under skyrocketing rent and mortgage payments and grocery prices going through the roof. All the while, big business is returning outrageous profits and ripping off their customers in the process.

We are consistently seeing the major parties offer up band-aid approaches that do not even meet the minimum requirements to address today’s problems; let alone prepare for the future.

Schools are underfunded; healthcare costs are increasing; and the dream of owning a home is being torn from the hands of hard-working Queenslanders. Each year, the big end of town is taking a larger piece of our pay; and making housing a nightmare, rather than the dream.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

The Greens have a plan to tackle and solve these issues. We will take on the big corporations that are ripping off Queenslanders. We’ll make them pay their fair share and use that money to build 100,000 public homes, fully fund schools, provide free childcare, hospitals and essential services. We’ll also freeze rents and cap increases.

The Greens will make groceries cheaper by breaking up the duopoly power of Coles and Woolies and stopping corporate price gouging for essentials. We’ll cut power bills with 100% publicly owned renewable energy, and take back control of our economy by bringing key infrastructure and services into public ownership. We’ll make public transport more frequent and free.

The Greens don’t take corporate donations like Labor and the LNP do, so I’ll work for you, not vested interests. We’ll make big corporations and billionaires pay their fair share of tax to ensure that every Queenslander has what they need to live a good life.

I want to be a part of this, will you join me?
