- For this election we have ranked both the Labor and Liberal parties with a red light in relation to their policy and parliamentary performance on climate.
The political landscape in the Legislative Assembly seats across the state is dominated by the Labor party with little chance for progressive parties or independents in the mojority of seats. For this reason, for many voters concerned about the ecological and climate crisis, your most politically effective vote lies with the 37 member Legislative Council. Whatever ballot paper you are filling in, our best advice is to always preference Green Light parties and candidates first ahead of both the majors and the Nationals. There is an outside chance Labor’s stranglehold on power could be mitigated by the election of a strong progessive cross-bench in the Legislative Council. Voting Traffic Light is an easy way to promote this outcome.
