“Unlike Liberals, Nationals and Labor, the Greens climate action policy is evidence-based and ambitious because The Greens do not  accept donations from fossil fuel companies.”

Vivian is standing as a candidate for Eden Monaro because she wants evidence-based climate action, affordable housing and social justice.

Well known locally as a climate activist, Vivian has qualifications in Veterinary Science, Education, and Environmental Health. She  will bring that background to highlighting the multiple impacts of climate change on human health and the need for urgent collective and political action. The Black Summer bushfires burnt one million hectares in the Eden Monaro region. The community breathed in hazardous smoke for months. Billions of animals died and biodiversity was lost. Unlike Liberals, Nationals and Labor, the Greens climate action policy is evidence-based and ambitious because The Greens do not  accept donations from fossil fuel companies.

After living for fifteen years in the low socio-economic Macleay Valley, and her own experiences as a low income casual and temporary contract worker, Vivian knows first hand that the health of a community is affected by access to affordable health, education, and housing. There is a huge disconnect between politicians on high wages and with expense accounts, and the 3.24 million Australians living below the poverty line. Vivian will be a voice for Australians doing it tough and for making corporations and billionaires pay their share of tax. She will ensure the increased revenue creates nation building, planet saving jobs, raises government payments to $80/day, provides free childcare, free education, adds mental health and dental to Medicare and fixes the NDIS to make life better for all Australians.

The Greens believe that affordable housing is a human right. For many people buying a house and even renting are becoming out of reach. Having only just managed to buy a modest house herself and with adult children struggling to afford housing, Vivian is committed to The Greens One Million Homes policy and increasing renters’ rights.

For too long the government has made policies that benefit billionaires and corporations instead of ordinary Australians.  A better, fairer, more sustainable future is possible if we get The Greens into balance of power. Let’s build a better future!
