Hi, I’m Rosa, a true country voice.

I’m running for Barker because I have experienced first hand the issues that face regional areas, and know that Country communities need their voice heard in Parliament. Together, we can ensure that rural and remote areas in Barker are not forgotten.

For most of my working life I have worked on the land as a farm hand/shed hand, picker, jillaroo and then the final 15yrs of my labour-intensive working life in the Dairy industry which I loved.

I have been an active member of the Barker community for decades. Living regionally, I understand the importance and power of community. In recent years, I have worked tirelessly to save the Murray Darling Basin as a Healthy Rivers Ambassador and River Fellow, and I will continue to fight for water security into the future.

In addition to my community work, after an injury that forced me to give up physically demanding work, I have now made a successful career for myself as a statement based visual artist, selling artwork internationally, and organising many exhibitions across South Australia.

Throughout my life, I have been a registered carer, providing ongoing care for my family members and still do. I am also a parenting grandmother and have been doing so for 9 years now.

I am highly skilled in unifying and engaging with different communities. Using this ability, I hope I can raise the quality of life for regional communities so we can have a sustainable future for generations to come.

I am passionate about improving rural services such as mental health, disability care, domestic violence, and substance abuse treatment facilities. I have also advocated for quality regional aged care services in my area. Together, we can:

1. Protect the Murray River

2. Increase resources for all health care and domestic violence services

3. Fund public schools, hospitals, roads and retain our young people in communities

I’ll represent the people of Barker’s values in parliament and hold the major parties to account. Together we can create a fairer and cleaner future for all of us.
