Hi, I’m Asha and I’m delighted to be your Greens candidate for Oxley in the upcoming federal election.
I moved back to Australia in 2015 after growing up in Cambodia and Kenya, where my parents worked in international aid. As a result of this experience, I developed a passion for social justice and the importance of a functioning government and political system to facilitate positive change in society.
I am a psychology student at the University of Queensland. I work in retail fashion and am a research assistant at Queensland University of Technology. As a young person trying to create a career for myself after I graduate, I am aware of the uncertainty we’re all facing with a lack of job security, skyrocketing housing prices, the climate emergency and the growing gap between rich and poor.
I am running for the Greens because we are committed to securing a sustainable and fair Australia for everyone, with free uni/TAFE, dental into Medicare and a transition to 100% renewable energy by 2030.
Our plan will create over a million jobs for Australians, and by implementing free childcare, free education and improving infrastructure we will increase equality and increase opportunities for everyone. Access to mental health services, dental care, affordable housing and education should not be determined by wealth.
Protecting our environment is key to ensuring certainty for our future. By making Australia carbon positive and improving protection for our unique biodiversity, we can secure a sustainable future for generations to come.
Our vision is fully costed by making billionaires and corporations pay their fair share and supporting industries that will bring more income into Australia. Because the Greens do not take political donations, we work for you, not the highest bidder.
Will you help me make this vision a reality by joining my campaign and voting Green?
