The sentinel lighthouse warns mariners of rocky shores. Climate Sentinel News provides similar warnings to Australians and people everywhere threatened by the growing Climate Emergency.

Rev. 0 – 11/03/2024! 2023 set new planetary extremes as our activities force global temperatures ever higher on the way to mass extinction. 2024 looks even worse! Soon humans will no longer be able to survive in the climate we are forging. My featured image of the state of Earth’s oceans up to February 1 …
(Rev. 2 – 29/10/2023) Water was the cradle and mother of all life. When the world is too hot it is also the destructor that erases life, as in Derna, Libya on 11/09/2023 Life originated in the sea, dependent on and driven by water based chemistry. When our remote ancestors colonized the land more than …
The idea of a ‘tipping point’ is more than academic. Once you trip over it you are on a downhill slide towards Hell at the bottom of the hill Featured image: Shutterstock from the featured article.
An EOS article published today puts exclamation marks around yesterday’s post: “Thawing permafrost in the Arctic warns we are probably crossing several critical tipping points on the road to runaway warming and near-term human extinction“. “The increasing incidence of wildfire in the Arctic is not only thawing permafrost but also changing the entire underlying structure …
Part 6 of David Spratt’s guidebook to events along the road to Hothouse Hell: Burning Siberian tundra, taiga forests and peat soils are all contributing to thawing permafrost and pushing greenhouse gas emissions past an important tipping point Spratt focuses almost exclusively on the consequences of permafrost thawing without much consideration of the overall environment …

If Howard and I are right, we have already passed several tipping points triggering positive feedbacks that will cause global warming to increase exponentially towards a point-of-no return where global mass extinction (including humans) is almost inevitable (he links the same science articles I use in this context). To avoid this end we need to turn the barbecue around to roast the pigs and their wooden-headed puppets first.
If you want a future, it is time to take global warming seriously and totally mobilize to fight the fires driving us towards Hothouse Hell. Bill McKibben, one of America’s most respected environmentalists and a founder of the international 350.org, reports from the northern state of Vermont on the winter that wasn’t. As noted by …

Labor Gov’t slashes vital Antarctic research by $25 M while promoting fossil fuel production/export and gifting $200 million to Aussie sport despite the desperate need to understand how unprecedented Antarctic ice and oceanic conditions relate to the climate crisis. Anthony Albanese and the federal Labor government are supposedly concerned to keep Australians safe. Yet, if …

Unedited links etc to climate news sources I trust The Age reports Global warming to cost Australia up to $423 billion over 40 years https://www.theage.com.au/politics/federal/global-warming-to-cost-australia-up-to-423-billion-over-40-years-20230823-p5dyvx.html. This relies on the IPCC’s consistent downplaying of risks in complex dynamical systems that are inherently unpredictable – especially when based on input data that likely did not include observational …

As I write this, the average climate for our WHOLE PLANET is changing so freaking fast we can see visibly measurable changes in the averages from one day to the next! Unwelcome reality is that we face an extremely dangerous climate emergency. Politicians must shift from business as usual to emergency mode. Anyone who pays attention to weather and climate will know that lethally dangerous extreme weather events such as floods, droughts, wildfires have been growing increasingly more extreme, widespread, and frequent. These will keep getting …
UN Chief, Antonio Guterres warns world leaders at COP 27 summit that nations must cooperate or face “collective suicide” from climate change. Guterres pulled no punches in his opening address to heads of state and other national leaders attending the climate summit: “Humanity has a choice: cooperate or perish,” “It is either a Climate Solidarity …

CO2 and Methane both still rising
The Guardian article shows we’re perilously close to the point of no return where global warming will be unstoppable. The UN says act now! Victoria needs to have a successful climate election as this is the only issue that really matters. The featured image (from the Guardian article) shows no hint that the rising greenhouse …
